@mikebaarda @Npars01 @breadandcircuses @Alienated53 @RiaResists Those bankers were thieves and deserved jail time. Instead, we backed the taxpayer truck up and bailed them out. Conspiracy under our noses. If every taxpayer had received that money, instant economic stimulus, near depression over, crooks in jail.

@Npars01 @Alienated53 @mikebaarda @breadandcircuses @RiaResists Yes, Obama deserves credit for that. Amazing, it hasn't been dismantled.

@Npars01 @Alienated53 @mikebaarda @breadandcircuses @RiaResists I agree. Have to fight, but voting alone isn't getting it done. We need to be in the streets and put some skin in the game. Every decision has to come from the perspective of saving ourselves from climate change. We are out of time for anything less.

@stargazersmith @Npars01 @Alienated53 @mikebaarda @breadandcircuses @RiaResists I'm all for that, good for you. How do we make this an achievable norm?

@Npars01 @stargazersmith @Alienated53 @mikebaarda @breadandcircuses @RiaResists All good, also better city planning, sprawl must go, mass transit, and friendly bike infrastructure. Fusion is still decades away, and won't help with the immediate crisis, tipping points. Whatever happened to the word conservation as well? Why do we still have 5000 pound vehicles with one occupant?

@GreenFire @michaelgemar @theogrin @maxkennerly Thank Milton Friedman and the Chicago School for this idea. Nothing like giving public services to for profit companies. It's heinous.

@zleap @Loukas American citizen here. Yes, we will have our own climate refugees here (we already do). The big one that I worry about is our western states failing from drought. The Colorado River is depleted and although the Sierra Nevada's got snow this year, reservoirs at Lake Mead and Lake Powell are still problematic. California's agriculture is struggling, 5th biggest economy in the world. https://geoffreydeihl.substack.com/p/what-is-joe-biden-thinking

@zleap @Loukas Yes, the Big One ever lurks, for which there is no preparation. Similarly, no preparation in western states for the water crisis in the making for decades. Typical. There have been efforts to reduce municipal water use, like watering lawns, but those efforts are a drop in the bucket compared to agriculture. Arizona pumps its aquifers dry to grow alfalfa to feed Saudi cows, and Nevada is mining lithium, requiring 500,000 gallons of water for one ton of product. All quite insane.

@zleap @Loukas There are many issues with mining minerals, just as there are with any type of mining. It also runs over indigenous people once again, whether it's the lithium triangle in South America, or Thacker Pass in Nevada, for which I did a deep dive. Greenwashing at its finest.https://geoffreydeihl.substack.com/p/showdown-at-thacker-pass

@seth @jeff Twitter was done, Musk bought it. He's turning it into a toxic, right-wing monstrosity. That may have been his plan all along.

I learned more about wet bulb temperature. A new study from Pennsylvania State University concludes the threshold is much lower than 35C. The implications of this are profound and frightening. https://geoffreydeihl.substack.com/p/stunning-wet-bulb-temperature-update

@KimPerales All billionaires are security threats. They are also responsible for global poverty. They control everything and are consolidating their power.

I generally stick to the #ClimateEmergency, but had to write about the horrible situation happening in Israel. It's so depressing. https://open.substack.com/pub/geoffreydeihl/p/israel-hamas-palestinians-and-the?r=putep&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web

@tante We need less productivity, not more. Our hyper productivity is destroying the planet we live on and dehumanizing us.

@pathfinder @actuallyautistic I am not autistic, so feel free to call me out if I am wrong, but I feel as if we are all on a spectrum of mental health. It's vast and complex. I had a friend years ago with a farm, and she created a program for autistic children to take a bus from school and interact with the animals. Many of these kids who were mostly unresponsive opened up to the critters. 🧵

@pathfinder @actuallyautistic The modern world is overloaded with stimulus, it's unnatural. It seems to me your reaction to loud noises and the sights of an air show are quite reasonable. This world has changed profoundly since the industrial revolution. Little wonder to me many have difficulty adjusting to it. Be proud of your gifts and perspective.

@ajroach42 This is why independent writers are so important now, those who write and warn from their heart and conviction. I write on Substack on the truth about climate change. I do my research and every word comes from facts. Sorry for the shameless self-promotion, but this crisis is real, now and dire. https://geoffreydeihl.substack.com/
