@tripu It has happened to me before. Whenever someone throws the slightest ad hominem, I block. I have no patience.

@tripu I don't like his proposals either. I think he has none except monarchy. There was a very interesting YouTube channel that explained his ideas without the verbosity. It's gone now, but I could found this video reposted:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=90TbkFxePw0I think Moldbug's criticism of democracy is misplaced and it actually applies to large countries/bureaucracies, whether they're a democracy or a monarchy. Small monarchies can work fine, but so do small democracies. Diseconomies of scale.

@fidel @thedesertlynx Joel is a legend and he doesn't even use crypto cards. This is how he does it:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fme5_gEBgDM

@thedesertlynx @fidel Crypto.com is custodial. But how is that different from Bitreffill or Spritz? Maybe the difference is that Crypto.com is a 2-step process: transfer crypto to Crypto.com, then refill the prepaid card with it. Maybe with Bitrefill and Spritz you just transfer the crypto directly into the card, refilling it?

Inspiring thread. Joel (@thedesertlynx) is a living legend."We bought into peer-to-peer electronic cash. We used it successfully for years. Then it changed, and we couldn't ever do that again. Thankfully, Bitcoin lives on through its children. Never returning to fiat!"https://x.com/TheDesertLynx/status/1704559393189085321

@fidel @tripu The joke is good, but the left didn't go more left. It just became more authoritarian. I'm thinking about the political compass here. The real divide today is libertarian/authoritarian, not left/right.

@tripu @admitsWrongIfProven I don't follow the news about Spain that much, and although I think the relationship with the separatists is definitely abusive, and they have authoritarian aspects, I don't think I would call them "Fascists".What am I missing?I starred many of your other comments on this thread because I agree 100% with them. So this is my only disagreement. Am I unaware of something that would put the Catalan separatists in a clear Fascist bucket?

@tripu @Haydar @admitsWrongIfProven @ImperfectIdea I see, and I agree. Bildu definitely fascistoid. The Catalan separatists have authoritarian tendencies too, but definitely not as bad.

@tripu @Haydar @admitsWrongIfProven @ImperfectIdea I haven't read your blog post very thoroughly, and although I agree with most of it, I have a minor disagreement:> #3 “Catalans have a right to express themselves”> Nobody’s denying the citizens of Catalonia that right. Freedoms of expression, of the press and of assembly aren’t eroded in Catalonia, or elsewhere in Spain. The Catalan government broke the law and misused funds. But people who just went to cast a vote, shouldn't be punished.

@tripu @Haydar @admitsWrongIfProven @ImperfectIdea And unfortuntately they were punished, hard. You won't find those videos in El País, but there were plenty of videos of the police going to the places where people were voting, and they came in beating people with violence, despite no resistance. And this was unnecessary, since they could just ignore the whole farce and let them vote, since the consultation had no legal validity anyway.

@tripu @Haydar @admitsWrongIfProven @ImperfectIdea If I hold a referendum in my home to vote for asking reparations to Canada for bringing Michael Bolton to the world, I should still be allowed to hold it, because it's my freedom of expression, and also of the voters.Lacking legal binding doesn't mean the referendum is illegal (or shouldn't be). It means that I'm holding a party/protest/carnival/farce, and I'm in my right to do so.(Of course I don't have the right to use tax money for it).

@Haydar @admitsWrongIfProven @ImperfectIdea: Yes. If it isn't legally binding, then it's just a poll.@tripu: I agree with the "missallocation of public funds" charge. But again, the people going to the polls aren't missallocating anything, and should be allowed to go without police violence. The Catalan government broke the law. The public did not."Imagine half your fellow citizens voting to decide whether they’ll stop considering you a citizen"I don't think that was on the ballot.1/2

@tripu @Haydar @admitsWrongIfProven @ImperfectIdea Disobeying the police is civil disobedience in this case. I don't think the punishment should be violence. Nobody is being harm for this farce. Let them have their non-legally binding vote. It's a misuse of police resources also. There are crimes everyday where people are harmed and property stolen. That's what police is for, and not for preventing people from having a non-legally binding vote that doesn't harm anyone.

@tripu Not unhealthy. That's a myth. But growing muscles with some drugs can be unhealthy and lethal.

@tripu More muscle size is correlated with longer lifespan and healthspan, in all mammals. I don't think anybody has reached the upper bound. It's probably gay, yeah. But I lived next to Castro in SF, and "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe... Gays fired up off the shoulder of Orion...".
