@hazlin it's a pattern I can't unsee: they get people debating the wrong questions based off faulty assumptions and nothing goes anywhere.AI "sentience" is an absurd thing to worry about but the debate manufactures consent for control over general purpose computing.

I used to think I was pretty aware of how sick and twisted things were but the latest Epstein releases make me realize that I was still quite naive.I absolutely underestimated how right the dooomers were about certain things.

@PamelaDrewMore generally I've noticed that "trauma aware" circles are lightyears ahead MAHA commentators on how the "mental health" complex has been used to silence victims of abuse.Peter Breggin is a reference for some of it given his work, but there seems to be a broader movement and history that doesn't seem to totally overlap with post-covid medical freedom circles.

@matthewIn hindsight, CoCs were always bound to be a disaster no matter how well-intentioned because there is a massive difference between a written list of rules and the bureaucracy to properly enforce said rules.What is clear to me is that the political use/misuse of these mechanisms was an inevitable outcome as these projects became more influential/important. What many of us seem to miss is the days when the Internet at least appeared to be separate from IRL status games.I'm not sure Pandora's box can be closed here, so I'm biased towards reform and transparency when it comes to these systems.@taylan
