@ericphelps I didn't know you could follow hashtags... I wonder how effective that would be on my self hosted instance. Now you've piqued my curiosity... Which ones did you choose to follow?

@bcdavid @fugueish @MLNow @kairyssdal @kimberlyadams That hasn't been my take on their reporting, but subjectivity and personal interpretation make these sorts of conversations hard. However, it seems you're looking for a more biased take on specific topics - which really isn't what a general news outlet usually is trying to provide - right? Totally a fair thing to look for if that's what you want.

I've been trying to use my existing 2TB of Google storage for automated backups of some data on my self-hosted boxes... it's been a total PITA though as I have to regenerate my OAuth credentials every week unless I'm willing to jump through quite a few hoops to get my app "published" or to create an internal Organization. Oof...Request for object storage incoming...

So - I need some object storage and I want it to be:a) Easy to script into (e.g. a well supported Linux CLI tool ideally)b) Durable (data is not going to disappear overnight)c) Durable (company is not going to disappear overnight)d) Relatively cheap - but I'm happy to pay.Any suggestions? Backblaze? Hetzner? Digital Ocean?Prefer to not loop Amazon into this...Backblaze offers 10GB free, which is probably more than sufficient initially...

@RyuKurisu I'm not too paranoid about security - I can encrypt the files locally. Tarsnap feels like one of those companies that _could_ announce it is shutting down with relatively little warning - hmm...

The ongoing battle for me with DALL-E is to get it to generate images for a multi-frame GIF animation. Today's exercise was to try to get it to generate frames for a "wizard casting a fireball". Each image is incredibly good, but getting it to understand fitting the frames in the image is hard.I'd use the shit out of DALL-E if it could do that for me though... especially for quick mockups of game art or screen animations.

Asking it to generate individual frames from the first image failed miserably though.

And asking it to only change the size of the fireball in that image resulted in still changing the image of the character.

Framework 16 is assembled!!!... and not booting a USB install. 😕I had my 5-year-old son help me put it together, so if I had to guess - the memory is not quite seated correctly.I tried the Pop OS image first - which loads the initial splash screen but fails to start the desktop installer. I'm going to give the Ubuntu 24.04 image a try next since that is officially supported.Wish me luck - I could really use a gaming session this weekend! 🙂

I'm guessing the memory I had just isn't compatible... Either that or something else is very wrong. I'll try a new set that's in the mail next week!
