Loath it or hate it, it is incredibly impressive what Putin has been able to do. Here the rest of us though Russia was laying flat out with a totally broken economy, but by spending the money they have on destroying the world instead of making life better for his own people, he had incredible success. I have no idea why anyone would prioritize like that, but it is impressive.

@aral @codeinabox @beacondb @mozilla Would the world be a better place if they stopped taking the money and shut down? And to go back to the original point: What is their real alternative to using Google location services?

Is there any tool – maybe in Inkscape or Gimp, but a standalone tool is fine too – for aligning several layers which mostly have the same lines on them?I've taken several screenshots of maps of the same area, but on different websites, so they are not perfectly aligned. I would like them to be. Bu I'm not able to do that manually, since the zoom level is not perfectly the same across the different maps. Thanks!#LinuxApps #maps #ImageTools #AskFedi

I'd rather people signal virtue than signal viceSignals matter. They direct people.

@deobald … that @BrodieOnLinux has talked about this perception in several videos. Most recently: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=02nFos3iHloI'm very curious to hear your thoughts on this, as someone who is, as you put it, "new to the GNOME community". Have you heard any thoughts on this internally? Do you think the perception is correct, and if so do you think there's any chance of more leniency in the future? As in: Even if Gnome is correct on what would be best, could you still see a possibility of GNOME …

@futurebird If I was going to be pedantic I would say that oral songs, poetry and stories are data transfer, and that the data storage is still just human memory until we start putting them into physical form.I would maybe add petroglyphs before painting on the list, and possibly papyrus around scrolls? I feel like maybe papyrus came long before, but I don't really know.

Going to the moon was awe-inspiring! Flying a helicopter on Mars, mind-blowing!But apart from the eradication of smallpox, I honestly believe #Wikipedia might be the greatest achievement by human kind! The collaborative effort of millions of people, spending countless hours to gather, document, fact check, communicate clearly, and discuss amicably all human knowledge, to share it freely for anyone to use any way they want! No money, no fame. Not perfect. But it is the best of us!…

So, given all that, of course the billionaires and the far right is trying to destroy #Wikipedia! They can't memory hole every aspect of history and science they don't like if there's a well sourced, well cited, freely available repository of knowledge out there that people trust.Reality itself has to bow down at the feet of hierarchical power. That is their final goal. They can not abide people learning any truth not twisted into a tool for their power. Please watch:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9zi0ogvPfCA

What can you do in the face of overwhelming power, seemingly unstoppable in their thirst to crush reality itself to feed their insatiable egos and hate for the "other"?Go to #Wikipedia. Find an article about something you know something about. Look trough it, find something that's wrong or unclear or missing. Heck, find a typo! Then click on that Edit button – which is there on every single article, for all humans to use – and make a change! Literally! And communicate your trust in Wikipedia

jesus christ. I have this one website in my history that I visit roughly 10 times a day or more. Then I have this other I visit less than once every 10 months. Both of them starts with the same two letters. But because the one I visit daily has the two letters in a subdomain, @zenbrowser – or more likely its Firefox base – has decided that every single time I type those two letters in the address bar it should suggest the one I only visit extremely seldom. It's driving me mad. Why do this!?

This comes on top of the just as ridiculous change in Firefox many months ago now, when they stopped sugesting the most used page when you type in the address bar if that page was not a top level domain. Before I could just type "re" and press enter to go to my most used page on Reddit. After this meaningless change I have to type "re" then press down arrow before pressing enter, because if not I'm just sent to reddit.com.I don't understand making your product worse!@zenbrowser#firefox
