I always tell designers I work with: Don't use a modal dialog for this, because you're eventually going to want to have two modals open at once, or nest them somehow, or some other thing that modals don't do.And every time, a few weeks or months after I built the damn modals anyway, they realize that the functionality that they had used modals to access now needs to be composed with new behavior, and they have to redesign it to figure out how it should work.
