@hertg it doesn't have a significantly different effect though, given how AGPL is basically a toxic license for most professionals.

@ivan @hertg if the binaries were licensed as AGPLv3, the corresponding source code would have to be provided when running it over the network. They could have said that the binaries are provided under a Freeware License and it would basically mean the same at that point — it's the not-unusual implication of "the copyleft implications are for Others, not for Us."(It also probably means that they'll only accept patches that are CLA'd or Apache-2.0 licensed for that.)

@ivan @hertg > A Contributor License Agreement (CLA) gives Teleport the right to dual license external contributions and makes sure contributors don’t submit code that has any restrictions to it.Yep.

@bortzmeyer user agent based filtering is nothing new: https://flameeyes.blog/2009/02/16/my-idea-works-filtering-by-user-agent-that-is/?mtm_campaign=social&mtm_kwd=mastodon

@bortzmeyer you call it stupid I call it extremely effective. I ran the blog with no tracking, no captcha, and virtually no spam for years thanks to that.

As usual, because someone will ask "Why is that a problem?" and because @foone doesn't do blogs...https://flameeyes.blog/2020/03/23/the-gpl-is-not-an-eula/?mtm_campaign=social&mtm_kwd=mastodon

@tante I honestly can't find an angle to even defend most chatbot LLMs 🤷♂️But as I posted last week, I find that (code-focused) LLM can be useful, although to me they are less "calculators" and more "CAD/CAM" (thus why I classify it under CASE): you still need to know the fundamental to make best use of them, but it's so rare at all that anyone would bother doing fine-grained mechanical drawings by hand.

@tante you may want to replace the variables with Foo and Bar since X now is easy to confuse 🤮

@mgorny use REUSE.software and SPDX headers and everything becomes larger than the GPL notice.Though, I went the other direction over time and I'm more likely to use MIT/0BSD than GPL simply because nothing I write make a difference to be copyleft-licensed, but it can make a difference to be permissive-licensed.

(Nearly) done. The final tray is printed and looks good. Except I screwed up the internal measurement and the two trays of grad students don't fit.Since the grad students are the cheaper thing to reprint, I'll do that. Alternatively I could also just put them back on the original plastic bag, it should work.

Okay so here's the insert tray. I did totally screw up the dimensions (103 vs 110!) because I sketched that first and separately. This time I sketched the new one on the face that it needed to nest into. It's a good fit and easy to take out, although the grad students are a bit of a right fit.The full box went through shake-test and survived as well as most other game box, so I count this as mission accomplished.

This is the first time I do something like this. I bought a laser cut wooden kit for The Dresden Files Cooperative Card Game years back, but that's the extent of it.That I went through the effort over the weekend to measure, arrange, design, and print this whole organiser for Everyone Else Thinks This Game Is Awesome speaks volumes in terms of how much I enjoyed it when I played it with my wife and our friends last week.Thank you @ZachWeinersmith for a terrific game!

I'll post the STL files and the Fusion 360 projects on Printables probably tomorrow. As I said there is room for improvement so I'll happily release them as CC-BY and if anyone else improves on it, enjoy!

Listen, I don't want to give legitimacy to audiophiles but let me tell you I can definitely detect when my gaming PC decides to send a stereo stream rather than DTS or 7.1 even though the stream is meant to be just stereo.

@gsora no, but skimping on cables and getting some marginal ones because "they work" has backfired for me in the past.I was going crazy with this PC connection to the TV. A colleague suggested a cable that was twice as expensive as the one I was using. It solved everything.

I am, once again, wondering why tricycles, in the sense of full grown adult sized cycles with two rear wheels (with or without cargo) are not normalised. They somehow feel like they shouldn't need as much engineering as it's pushed on to build cargo bikes, and they would be something I wouldn't mind using myself, rather than risk my life due to being barely able to balance a bike.

@thelastpsion @lproven heh, I'll be honest I was thinking more about Symbian 😅Then I just checked and it's been 15 years (!) since I last wrote anything about that… https://flameeyes.blog/tag/symbian/?mtm_campaign=social&mtm_kwd=mastodon
