@PricklyPam @ericmacknight @brinnbelyea @mekkaokereke @carnage4life I'm loving all the activism on display in this thread. I was born in the 70s to Silent Gen parents. It's just a little odd to see all this in the context of electric cars, since the first electric and hybrid cars were developed well before the Model T. Imagine, if the fossil fuel industry hadn't done such a great job of suppressing innovation in electric transport, how far ahead of climate change we would be right now.

@shebang lol why is that because so many of the indigenous tribes that were originally here no longer exist?because that's really the only way that would make sense.

I'm pretty distraught about the Supreme Court's recent rulings. I don't really know what to do about it; it's all very overwhelming. Do we still have a democratic republic? Seems like we don't. #democracy

@futurebird Just chiming in because I was paying attention back then -- Biden did a lot for Obama. Anything that needed to get through Congress, Biden was involved. The Am. Reinvestment and Recovery Act, which got us out of the Great Recession: Biden. Obamacare: Biden. He has always been buddies with GOP folks as well as Dems. Don't forget, the VP sits in with the Senate, which was already his stomping grounds. He was essential to Obama's successes.cc @DaveMWilburn

@futurebird Great advice. I’m a complete news junkie but since I really can’t stand the man’s voice I do not tune in to Trumps speeches. I watch podcasts from smart people afterward to learn what I need to know. It’s much more efficient besides being better for my mental health.

@futurebird imagine. daycares over-regulated. when we constantly have stories of daycare fuck-ups in our news feeds, like the one who left her edibles within reach of the children and parents were picking up stoned toddlers.

I keep coming back to this, the Jordanian FM Ayman Safadi speaking abt the peace process w/ Israel. He calls out Arab nations in particular but Iran is also one of the members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the group of 57 countries he's referring to. It's not only that Netanyahu wants to stay in power. @futurebird Electoral college reform, ie get rid of it. We're stuck in this two-party system bc of the electoral college. It is a remnant of our dirty history when so many were enslaved. Now it's the reason why there's no viable third party; voting for Jill Stein isn't a vote for Jill Stein, it's a vote for the trailing 🫏 or 🐘 candidate.Speaking of which anyone who thinks a Pres. Stein would prevent us from sending bombs to Israel does not understand what the US really is.

@futurebird this is 100% why I don't have a snake as a pet. My college boyfriend had a python... I'll never forget how he had to "prepare" the mouse before putting it in the enclosure.
