@fuxoft Desktop. I hope to publish this on Steam.Theoretically, all OSes are possible (Win/Linux/Mac/web), but it'll depend on what kind of pain each platform turns out to be to support.

Napadlo mě, že jsem vlastně ještě nikde neviděl rozepsané, jak přesně vznikají ty slavné algoritmické "bubliny", a proč (nám) to sociální sítě vlastně dělají. Tak jsem dal dohromady tento článek:https://fajfka.cz/bubliny/#czech

Random question: is it possible to "include" Atom feeds inside other Atom feeds by reference? My use case: have several focused thematic feeds (e.g. posts on my blog, videos on my YouTube channel, major announcements on my game's site) and them aggregating them all in, say, filiph.net/all_english.xml by doing something like:<feed><title>...</title><link rel="include" href="https://filiph.net/text/atom.xml"/><link rel="include" href="https://www.youtube.com/feeds/videos.xml?channel_id=UCw-szA50Zcuc01vDVO-4i2g"/></feed>Maybe @timbray knows? #RSS

@ondra Thanks. Aggregating the feed myself is what I'm trying to avoid, but I guess that if that project you're linking to exists, then there's no way around it. Oh well.

@ondra OPML is a good idea. I think I only ever worked with OPML as a big "export/import" chunk when moving between feed readers, so I'd have to test whether, for example, the OPML doesn't just rewrite your existing feeds on import. I'd still prefer an Atom feed but I'm putting this aside for later.

I avoided the whole Twitter drama for the past months and I learned to have very low expectations of Elon Musk, but — what the hell? There was a recent live event on Twitter's audio chat platform where Musk hangs out for 3 hours with the likes of Alex Jones, Jackson Hinkle, Jack Posobiec, or Andrew Tate. These dudes are known for spreading things that are provably false, from Pizzagate, to denying China's brutal repression of Uyghurs, to "Sandy Hook was a false flag operation".What the hell?

Ok, I'm almost ready to let folks play a Steam Preview version of GIANT ROBOT GAME. Now, just to set expectations — the game is really not that fun yet, I'm currently mostly interested in seeing possible crashes and performance issues.I have versions for Windows and macOS. I might be able to make a version for Linux, too. (Clearly possible, but might be quite a lot of work.) So now I'd like to learn who here has Steam installed on which platform. Which OS do you have Steam installed on?

Yesterday, I asked a question on the #Ubuntu forums and so far, there's no reply. I thought some people here might know the answer.- Clean Ubuntu install reports enable-animations as false (through one of the methods) when they're actually enabled- https://askubuntu.com/questions/1528661/clean-ubuntu-install-reports-enable-animations-as-false-when-theyre-enabledThis screws with the #Linux version of my game because the game thinks that it should skip animations when it shouldn't.#askfedi

@fuxoft The engine I'm using respects the settings by default. I can easily override it but I'd rather fix the upstream engine so that others don't need to deal with this.

If you're into demoscene (or were into it in the past), can you recommend a demo that really blew your socks off?I don't care if the demo's remarkable because of some technical achievement, or if it's because of artistry, or music, or some innovative strategy. I also don't care if it's a C64 demo or a Vulkan one.I just want to see what can be done with code that's visually cool and memorable.#demoscene

À propos of nothing, here's the inlay design of a _word processor_ app for the ZX Spectrum.I never had a ZX Spectrum and don't have a need for an 8-bit word processor at the moment, but this design — as they say — goes hard.Notice the word "PUNISHMENT" that's included in the design — for seemingly no reason at all.I yearn for the alternate reality in which COMPACT OFFICE is what we use instead of boring MS Word and Google Docs.#retrocomputing

If you, like me a minute ago, want to know how this software looked like, here you go: https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry/8030/ZX-Spectrum/Compact_OfficeAlso, you can own this cassette tape if you like. I stumbled upon this when I was browsing a local e-auction (looking for something completely unrelated — a Nintendo Wii game).
