@ramonita I agree with all of this but "normal people" may be an oversimplification because sociopaths exist and they are, by definition, not the norm. They are, however, still very human (as are all people who diverge from the norm) and we shouldn't be dehumanizing them because that harms us even more than it harms them. It's also tactically stupid but it's mainly terrible because It literally starts to make us into dehumanizing fascists ourselves. We don't see others as humans and try to extend compassion to do them a favor, we do it to protect and keep whole our own humanity. So it's less about people being "just like us" and more about "people not like us are also human and deserving of compassion" and, if we get really lucky, we can deprogram them from hate and bring them back into kinder community (they've already found community but it's based in hate and feeling superior). It's hard to deconstruct our own desire to categorize people by hierarchies of worth but that's also part of the work in building egalitarian community.

@Wolven @michaelgemar @davidgerard Yes, there's a long historical association art, medical science and politics between technofuturism and eugenics. It's inevitable because it's about "perfecting" and "purifying" bodies and this idea itself is tied into White supremacy (via both religion and science). Ideas of purity and perfection, especially around bodies, are always a feature of fascism.

Land Back isn't just a slogan, it's an action. It is, as the Buddhists would say, "right action." #LandBack https://thediscourse.ca/nanaimo/snuneymuxw-reclaims-village-in-land-back-dea

@caseynewton Community always belongs to the people who create it not the architecture we gather on to form community (be it physical or virtual communities).

So three people I know currently have Covid right now in Montreal, and a whole bunch of others are piping up about having had it, so get your boosters, wear a mask and be safe out there mes chères Montréalaise! Also, keep checking back in about appointments for boosters if you can't book one soon. I kept checking now have both my booster and flu shot booked for Monday (at different times, I'm hoping they'll be sensible enough to let me get them both at the first appointment, it was impossible to book a time until next month using the covid+flu option but by booking them both separately I managed to get both booked for this Monday!)#Montreal #Covid

For anyone looking for Covid info for Montreal as cases rise (people are still being hospitalized and dying from Covid in Montreal and Quebec in rather large numbers). It's not being tracked very well (Sante Mtl isn't providing any info anymore, Quebec is only reporting once a week, obviously most cases of Covid go unreported unless someone is hospitalized). There's a lot of Covid out there in the city, be careful and get a booster, a lot of people I know are testing posting positive and I'm hearing reports of some people getting very sick. Very few people are being cautious (I went to see Godzilla yesterday, an empty afternoon showing but we still wore masks because we'd rather be safe than kicking our own sorry sick asses later). LOTS of unmasked people coughing on the metro and not covering their mouths! (Have we all suddenly decided that we're not going to cough into an elbow anymore either? Or are these people just coughing so much that's harder to keep doing?)https://covid19mtl.ca/en#Montreal #Quebec
