Als jemand, der seinen lungenkranken Vater dieses Jahr verloren hat, machen mich die Zahlen auch anderweitig traurig. Bei einer derzeitigen Fallsterblichkeit von 4% heißen 9.400 neue Fälle statistisch ca. 375 Tote in den nächsten Monaten.Fast 400 Freundes- und Familienkreise werden trauern. Und das auch nur in Deutschland und nur durch die Fälle der letzten Woche! Die fast alle vermeidbar gewesen wären.Ich wünsch euch allen Stärke!

@damuc2 Mein Vater ist im Februar gestorben, bevor's hier richtig losging. Insofern war ich auf eine etwas abstruse Weise auch froh, ihn nicht noch mit in die Pandemie hineindenken zu müssen. Aber kann mich halt trotzdem reinfühlen, wie sich Verwandte von Vorerkrankten seit Monaten fühlen müssen.COVID-19-Bezug hat damals keiner hergestellt, wäre aber natürlich möglich. Ich glaub aber, das würde emotional nichts ändern.

@damuc2 Was es aber sehr wohl ändert, ist die Sicht auf die Idioten. Die bewusst und ohne Not Menschen wie meinen Vater in Gefahr bringen, weil ihnen ein Stück Stoff vor Mund und Nase wie Unterdrückung erscheint und weil ihnen das Kuscheln mit fremden Menschen an Supermarktkassen und an Stränden wichtiger ist als der Schutz von anderen Menschen. Die daher andere Familien in meine Situation bringen.Da muss ich mental schon aufpassen, mich da nicht zu sehr reinzusteigern.

Today, the gardeners are back in the neighborhood. One of them is using a string trimmer to cut some patches of meadow.To be honest: to me, this always feels somewhat symbolic for modern humankind. Someone gets paid to produce noise, smell and (CO2) emissions for hours while also destroying flowers, grass and insects — nature in general, really.That's it. No one wins.Well, I guess it looks more orderly. For a few weeks. Until they're back.

@kraehenpost News: Tagesschau.de. Ist leider in den letzten Jahren auch eher schlechter geworden, macht aber immer noch die beste Figur. Ich hab das als einzige „General News“-Seite als Feed im Reader, was den Vorteil hat, dass es keine „Aufmacher“ gibt und Trump erstmal bedeutungsgleich neben Insektenvielfalt steht. Da reichen größtenteils die Schlagzeilen und Teaser für den allgemeinen Überblick. (1/2)

@kraehenpost Rest ist bei mir ein Mix aus Special Interest (Wissenschaft bei der NZZ und Spektrum, Netzwelt bei SpOn etc.), anderen Sachen, die ich gerne rezipiere, und Social Media. Eigentlich hat ja fast jede Site *einzelne* gute Artikel, die sich ja dann auch zum Beispiel hier wiederfinden. Für Longreads würde ich wahrscheinlich eher zu sowas wie Republik.ch oder Krautreporter gehen. Wenn's noch 'ne andere (deutsche) Seite sein müsste, dann am ehesten Taz. (2/2)

@kraehenpost Ich scroll halt morgens einfach über den Feed für den Überblick. :D SpOn hab ich schon vor Jahren rausgeworfen, weil Überschriften und Teaser immer nichtssagender wurden.Die viel wichtigere Frage ist wahrscheinlich eher genereller Natur: Wozu sich zusätzlich noch 'ne Homebase ans Bein binden, wenn man eh den Tag über alles Wichtige mitkriegt? Nützt einem der vermeintlich zusätzliche Informationsgewinn wirklich was? Ist er die Zeit auch wert, die man das rezipiert?

It's a long shot, but hey, it's also the internet!My wife is looking for a book she once read about. Somewhat recently(?) written by a Danish (female) author and some kind of climate (sci-fi?) dystopia. I think the setting involved a “green“ system that's just green because most people aren't allowed to provide much to climate change, so the upper class can continue their excessive lifestyle. Can someone recommend a good wireless (not necessarily “true wireless“) Bluetooth headset?I'm basically looking for a replacement of stock headsets that usually come with your phone, so price should be on the cheaper side.More requirements: Should be reasonably comfortable, sound should be stereo. Wir lästern ja immer gerne über unsere Verwaltungen und gerade in Berlin hat das ja auch nochmal besondere Tradition, aber ich bin gerade sehr positiv überrascht vom Briefwahl-Prozedere.QR-Code aus der Wahlbenachrichtigung scannen, dort auf „Absenden“ klicken, fertig. Selbst mit dem Hervorholen des Telefons und dem Prüfen der Daten ist man da in 'ner Minute fertig. :)

@evelyn Yep, it's the “booster“ shot, but I don't like the term too much. I got my first jab in June, my second one in July and now the third one (exactly) five months later.Here, people usually get the same brand for the first two, unless there are problems (e.g. allergic reaction). The third one would usually be the same brand, but I need another post for this. 😅 👇

@evelyn Regarding “boosters“:The science I've seen would suggest a (very) slight benefit in changing brands for the third jab. However, the latest recommendations for Germany have been to best apply Moderna to people older than 30. Given that we don't have enough BionTech for everyone, <30y and pregnant people get BionTech, >30y people get Moderna for their third shot, regardless of previous brands.So for us: I got Moderna 3x, my wife got Biontech x2 and Moderna x1.

@lfdi Würde ich so nicht sagen. Sensoren zum Vermessen sind nützlich und ergeben Sinn. Allerdings muss das Gerät dafür nicht ins Internet und schon gar nicht dort Sensordaten hochladen.Der Sensor ist weniger das Problem als das Nachhausetelefonieren.
