@blue_heathen Texas should really start by closing all stores on the Sabbath, thereby keeping it holy. And probably ban all transportation of goods in the state too, since those are people working.

@stux I hate the videos that stage this sort of thing. "I fed one one day, and this is what I saw the next day!!!one!1!" Someone has been habituating wild animals, and took a video and made a lie hoping for hits. You went ahead and helped promote this sort of nonsense.

@Trilobyter That's a great story. And I suspect everyone at the time didn't think about these sorts of 'trinkets' much, since we'd soon have weekly shuttles to the moon, so no big deal. I'm happy you were able to have it professionally restored.

@drmambobob I had a bike from the early 90s that I rode until I was hit by a car riding it (nothing serious, but with an old bike, best not to take chances moving forward). The one weak spot that I would have changed if I had kept it was the wheels. The spokes were becoming very loose (stretched over decades I presumed) and when other people rode it, they immediately felt the sloppiness of them whereas I had ridden it all that time and never could tell.

@futurebird I spent pretty much all of 8th grade falling asleep to Douglas Adams' HHGTTG books. I don't recall any vivid dreams from that time, but I'm sure it affected me.

@catsalad I mean, if you don't do that, you put a wall on that side of the kitchen, which by the looks of it kills a lot of natural light (but you can't see 100%). So wall or stairs. And for everyone screaming unsanitary, are you all monsters that wear your shoes indoors or don't wash your feet?

@futurebird I think I watched one, and the thing that really disappointed me was that EVERYTHING that was removed from the home was trashed. No recycling or sending things to a thrift/reuse store.

@futurebird I got a 2019 Rav4 Hybrid in 2022. I really hope it lasts 20 years like our previous Civic did. One of the biggest issues with the old car was that it sat so low, all the headlights from the newer SUVs and giant trucks were blinding (getting older) and I needed to be up higher to avoid it. I did get a e-bike, but inertia is keeping the mileage on it low. Hopefully I can get into a rhythm and make that a replacement for four wheels. Although theft on short trips is a concern.
