@niplav Sucking is always omnidirectional, while blowing is unidirectional. Nothing special about the human nose here.I once saw a miniature boat moving on that principle: it sucked in water and then blew it out again, making it move in one direction.

@jonathanharker It's not the scale why people argue in favor of nuclear over wind and solar, but the ability to produce electricity at all times. Until we have solved the electricity storage problem, which is still very far away, I think we need a mix of both nuclear and wind and solar.

@strypey All EA people would agree with you that it would be better that philanthropy would not be necessary anymore. Most people that I know personally from the movement also vote for higher taxes and more wealth distribution, so the change you like to see is embraced by them as much as by you.Deliberately doing nothing right now to help others, because it should not be necessary, is also not a solution however.

These large LLMs are used by more than several 1,000 people, so if this size were the important parameter, then deleting emails is actually better than stopping using AI.However, this parameter is not the right parameter to look at. We need to look at energy consumption, and then we see that email storage is only a fraction of AI energy usage, which in turn is way less than video streaming, which in turn is way less than your home's AC.
