       I’ve boosted lots of info about CWs this week. I’ve also seen CWs weaponized against BIPOC and other marginalized folks, so want to clarify:White ppl, it’s racist to ask BIPOC to CW racism. Racism CWs are Not For You. (Same goes for other axes of discrimination. If you’re holding the privilege, STFU.)It’s not ok to harass/confront people about CWs. Just move along. You have tools to curate your feed.I will boost marginalized voices on this issue. Feel free to unfollow/block me for that. 👋

       This week, MastodonART defederating c.im pushed them to expand their mod team, clarify hate speech policies, & unsuspend the account of a Black user who had taken issue with CWs for lived experience.Now toot.community has suspended a transphobic journalist after pressure from several instances.I wish those instances had made better proactive choices but I’m impressed to see how powerful this type of direct action from instances (& individuals) can be here.

       After whatever moderation “mistake” made by mastodon.social that caused Tracy Chou’s post about reading white authors to be deleted, mastodon.online (also administrated by Eugen) has also suspended a Black user for unspecified reasons (likely similar).This is why other communities are talking about defederation. It’s not one or two users being assholes.        A bit over a month since I moved to #Mastodon. I’ve noticed:* I already have 2/3 the followers I had there after 3 yrs.* My posts here go “wide” (outside my circle) more often & go further. (100 RTs was a “hit tweet” for me. I broke 1k once & that was A Lot. I was never Twitter Famous, thankfully.)* I’m bolder here & talk about a wider range of topics.* The #Twitter Drama of the Day seems VERY strange, silly & exhausting when you hear about it second hand. 😬

       Any #mushtodon #mycologist folks who can help me ID these? iNaturalist isn’t giving me a clear winner. This clump was large, bigger than my hand, and growing in grass near young oak tree roots. Looks a lot like bread but definitely #mushrooms with not much stalk to speak of. #mycology #fungus
