@waffelo It's like journalists go out of their way to be incorrect for the antics that ensue

@djsumdog Epic owning Bandcamp means that the chance that music will stay DRM-free decreases as people forget that Epic didn't originally own Bandcamp. The value in the purchase for Epic are the comfortable customers and brand identity, so they can slowly implement anti-consumer policy changes without having to build something new from the ground up. That's pretty evil

@djsumdog The problem is that we shouldn't have to rely on a service to stay sane and then switch to whatever is in vogue every ten odd years, which was what was great about Bandcamp. If you bought the music you could keep it and do whatever. When it was handed over to Epic the press letter advised users to download all the music they could just in case Epic swung the hammer on actually owning your media.

@PhenomX6 "eye contact" has to be the most ridiculous reason to put a spoiler tag on your post. The only reasons people do it is peer pressure from anyone else, and as a show of virtue. Anyone who is afraid of eye contact will get it without warning literally everywhere else on the internet and when they walk outside

@ryan @PhenomX6 Excuse me, you did not tag this post with a CW for eye contact. This is actually a phobia for many folx, and even the inference of media that is mentally challenging in any way causes them to spontaneously combust! Yikes!Do better.

@onan It's a good sentiment, but oftentimes people will use self-labels to blunt the edges of their position, especially if it's controversial and they're speaking to the masses- "I'm just for common sense!" This is also why abusing labels as pejoratives for people you don't like is rude, too.

@jbauer To do so would introduce ambiguity in your prompt. If you say:`cp -r Downloads/Dir With Spaces Documents/`How could the shell know not to copy `Downloads/Dir`, `./With`, and `./Spaces` to `Documents/`? Space is pretty strictly a delimiter without being escaped, and workarounds would probably require complicated aliases that would be overengineered to work against the shell's parsing and would also take away functionality from tools that take an arbitrary number of arguments like `cp`.

@PhenomX6 You come across a "fuck jannies" thread full of hateful and ridiculous image macros that depict hard-working moderators like you as fat and stinky and stupid. You're simply big boned, and just took a shower only 4 days ago. You volunteer your time *without expecting* payment because you love the community. This is misinformation that must be stopped! Finally, Anonymous posts something that puts you over the edge: "clean it up for free, janny."As a janny what do you do?

@coolboymew Wowee. Good thing I pirate every video game without exception. Remember: it is always morally correct (and therefore your obligation) to pirate video games.
