I saw someone point out elsewhere that Elon Musk is on a trajectory that's pretty similar to that of John McAfee. who was once a widely respected tech industry figure, became wealthy, then seemed to go a little nuttier every year, and then...Anyway, I can't get that thought out of my head now.
