testing Gnome on my ThinkPad X280.. ..i'm really surprised how low the memory usage is (616 MB on cold boot) and the 1:1 touchpad gestures are [actually] pretty awesome #debian #gnome #thinkpad

@hehemrin i tried it out for a while earlier in the year, but the discussions on there were only about cryptocurrency or the nostr platform itself.. ..no other conversations of substance [yet].. ..the concept is cool, but i'm not sure it will expand out into other online communities.. ..time will tell

i finally setup a "wiki" repo for documentation and notes about my scripts and dotfiles, plus other linux related notes.. ..some of which aren't really elaborate enough for dedicated blog posts, but it's nice to be able to pull them down to any machine for reference, etc. ..there are just a few things in there now, but i have more to add soon.. ..attempting to get better at [consolidating] documentation https://git.sr.ht/~e33io/scripts-and-dotfiles-wiki#linux #debian #opensuse #i3wm #jwm #xfce #gnome #cinnamon #wiki

so it appears you can run simple X client programs with the `~/.profile` file.. ..seems to work fine across a couple of my computers and with #Debian and #openSUSE.. ..are there any reasons i should avoid doing it this way? https://git.sr.ht/~e33io/dotfiles/tree/master/item/.profile#L21

i made another #Xfwm4 theme for #Xfce called "Border-Only".. ..it's a no-titlebar style window theme, with 1px, 2px, 3px, and 4px variants.. ..the active window uses the accent color from the active Gtk theme (post edited to include the additional 3px and 4px variants) Border-Only-1pxhttps://git.sr.ht/~e33io/dotfiles/tree/main/item/xfce/usr/share/themes/Border-Only-1pxBorder-Only-2pxhttps://git.sr.ht/~e33io/dotfiles/tree/main/item/xfce/usr/share/themes/Border-Only-2pxBorder-Only-3pxhttps://git.sr.ht/~e33io/dotfiles/tree/main/item/xfce/usr/share/themes/Border-Only-3pxBorder-Only-4pxhttps://git.sr.ht/~e33io/dotfiles/tree/main/item/xfce/usr/share/themes/Border-Only-4px

i'm still testing the Lite XL editor and i made a theme and syntax plugin for generic config files.. ..Lua is kinda odd.. ..just sayin' ..but i'm starting to figure it out a bit https://git.sr.ht/~e33io/dotfiles/tree/main/item/.config/lite-xl/colors/monokai-mod.luahttps://git.sr.ht/~e33io/dotfiles/tree/main/item/.config/lite-xl/plugins/language_generic_config.lua

i'm revisiting the Lite XL editor (v2.1.2-rc3).. ..the multi-cursor support out of the box is great (very close to Sublime Text) and the current selection of available plugins is pretty decent (at least for core text editing).. ..plus app theming and syntax highlighting per language is easy to config too (in Lua).. ..i'm gonna keep dialing in my configs and see if this will be the editor that can finally pull me away from Sublime Text https://lite-xl.com

i worked out some more dynamic CSS for the Xfce panel to work with my System and Border-Only Xfwm4 themes a bit better.. ..in addition to using standard GTK variables for color values, i used some of them in combination with the GTK "alpha" color expression too.. ..both the custom CSS and my custom themes work dynamically with the active GTK theme (Yaru-MATE-Dark is in the screenshot) https://git.sr.ht/~e33io/dotfiles/blob/main/xfce/.config/gtk-3.0/gtk.csshttps://git.sr.ht/~e33io/dotfiles/tree/main/item/xfce/usr/share/themes#Xfce #Xfwm4 #GTK #CSS
