@saga@bsd.moe It's good to explore the range of dark to hoppy beers and everything in between. If you're sampling, start with the darkest and go to hoppiest. (Hops kick your tastebuds in the balls and make it harder to taste the subtleties in dark beer)

His current philosophy on life is we're just killing time really, having spent a decade discontent that he hadn't achieved the American Dream with the house with the white picket fence, a job in the field he went to school for, and a wife and kids. Don't spend the present agonizing about the future, because sooner or later the future is going to suck for every individual in ways they never would have predicted.

@Agni@misskey.xyz Put another way, let my boss get up at 4 am and run around like a chicken with his head cut off all day, making 3.5x as much as me. Let the senior estimator stay later than he has to every single day, be pissed off literally all the time, and make 2.5x as much as me. That doesn't appeal to me. I get plenty done in 9 hours and then I go home. If they want a harder worker, they can either pay me more or find someone else. But they won't find someone else. The company is too young with too little profile, and the pool for this kind of work is bone dry in this region. So they don't say anything when I show up 10-15 min late everyday. They didn't drug test me, even tho they were supposed to, because they'd rather have a second estimator who smokes pot in his spare time than some piece of shit who steals from the company or no second estimator at all. I've already called off a few times, mainly to test whether or not this is the type of job where I get fired for calling off. Apparently it isn't. So I've observed plenty of details that indicate that they need me and I have them right where I want them. I know how the game works; I just play it differently than you. The same generation that owns and runs this company are the people who sold me the dream that if I only go to college and work hard at whatever I love, I'll never have to "work" a day in my life. @Agni@misskey.xyz So I practiced my dick off in hopes of never having to take the type of job I'm working now (but worked "regular" jobs in the meantime because money and bills are a thing). Turns out it was all a pipe dream sold to me by naive adults in my community and a few rich pieces of shit profiting off the higher education system. So I'm not going to let these same faggots fool me again into thinking I'll get what I want out of life by giving my 100% to them.

To a degree I put up with it because it doesn't start bothering me until it becomes a pattern. Of course I don't know you that well, no better than you know me, much less my IRL friends. What I do know is that you like playing this game online of peeling away at people you see as your intellectual inferiors until they sperg out or otherwise do something loltastic. This is your idea of treating someone like an adult? I can't pretend I don't do the same thing to others and derive similar pleasure from it. I guess it's helpful sometimes to be on the receiving end of things in order to rethink the way I interact with people and the type of influences I allow to creep into my psyche.
