What Mastodon is doing is #environmentalVandalism, and an excoriating #waste of internet resources and bandwidth.We really did not expect this.It's also socially irresponsible as smaller operators struggle to cope with M'don's demands. Our instance for example is being forced to shutdown due to being unable to handle the $40/month cost.It means more #centralisation. We're back at square one, because most users tolerated M'don bringing anti-features to #Fediverse.@gabriel @witchescauldron

It gets worse.In 29 minutes, while typing the above, 62MB sent over 1200 requests (61 MB transferred).Mastodon is a problem.In an announcement our admin team did say that with a donation they may be able to shift to a different type of server, and we think that that is probably the most sensible thing to do. Ideally a type of server that respects the planet. Here's hoping that some funds appear.One cannot say they care about #climateChange and run #MastodonFE.@witchescauldron

…You might already know about this, but https://h-node.org is a project by the @fsf that helps people to identify #computers that they can use.It can be pretty tricky to find #hardware that is #ethical but by running a basic command and checking the peripherals listed by their Vendor and Product IDs (that look like "[3fc2:001b]") one can often quickly identify if a device will be suited to them, as #FreedomSoftware Enjoyers.@gabriel #hNode #ethicalHardware #computing #ethicalComputing

@coolboymew @realcaseyrollins I2P is the best VPS we recommend. For a good DNS service, though, called 'jump services' or 'subscriptions' on #I2P, we studied the different providers and they are all okay except for reg.i2p, which was giving out broken pubic keys for some keys sites.If you need more info we are here.

We're being forced offline on 8 Oct, some things have not sat right for us and must be aired.We believe the way #climateJusticeSocial goes on about #climate while near totally neglecting all other #environmentalism makes it an #astroturf instance. We could be wrong but we actually believe the owner is false, possibly with ties to #corporateState for surveillance rather than resistance.They began treating us with clear neglect. No reason. We concluded #controlledOpposition shortly after.

@bonifartiusThey should also be fighting for peace, real peace not militarism for peace, because wars and instability fuel all sorts of bad environmental effects.They should also be working to limit urban expansion (both horizontal and vertical). Family planning availability, as well as fighting to have more organic and localised farming. Lower meat consumption. More localised, demilitarised social networks, etc.So much to do, yet that admin was vastly #virtueSignalling.

Is it possible to determine?It **is** still happening. Two weeks ago it happened again. We had 179 followers then were dropped back down again.Again we only just started talking about this a month or so ago but we have noticed it happening for about 2.5 years.Do you know how the account is #limited?
