@solarkraft @liaizon The conclusion I came to was that there is a URL scheme that corresponds to the WiFi setting on devices and it just pushes text via the appropriate fields.I could sit down and figure out how to read the bits and see what's happening but I'm not that curious yet

Whenever I talk to people about adding solar to their house they always gripe about recouping the cost of them before they move or need replacing. If they move couldn’t they just, like, take them with them? And if the area is good they will get enough use out of them that they save on grid power and can probably sell some back even for a low rate which offsets things even more.

C is the past, C is the future."Thompson and his colleagues showed that they could get a computationally intensive calculation to run some 47 times faster just by switching from Python, a popular general-purpose programming language, to the more efficient C. [...] Further tailoring the code to take full advantage of a chip with 18 processing cores sped things up even more. In just 0.41 seconds, the researchers got a result that took seven hours with Python code."https://www.technologyreview.com/s/615226/were-not-prepared-for-the-end-of-moores-law/

@liaizon USB-C cables (ones that follow the spec at least) have a chip that specifies power limits. It may be that the phone cable is set to only deliver low Watts @ 3-5A.

@liaizon Probably got good data lines but a USB SSD typically only needs around 1.5W @ 1A. It's most likely rated for one of Samsung's phones though.

@liaizon How long are you gonna be in the US? It might be an idea to gtfo while flights are still stable. Airlines might ground flights out since they wouldn’t be carrying much back.

@sir Currently reading through the pdf for "no thinkpad", the amount of info in here is incredible. I'm so confused but intrigued at the same time. This will be a fun hole to fall down.

@nergal @sir I only found out about it after reading the sourcehut docs. I never really bothered to learn how git worked fully since a lot of the features of Github made it unnecessary for the stuff I was doing.Using git to submit patches and working with a minimal site interface made me want to learn how to use git properly haha

Just looked at some projects on Github and saw that the site no longer advertises a standard git command to copy for repo cloning. Now they encourage the use of 'Github CLI' with the syntax of 'gh repo clone'.No doubt it's a wrapper around git that will slowly gain features that git won't add because there is no need for them. They are no longer a 'git hub', they are a 'repo space'.All leading to the classic, Embrace, Extend, Extinguish.

I haven't pushed any stuff there for a while because I'm terrible at version control but I'm very glad I jumped to @sir's sourcehut, the direction the Github is moving in now feels creepy to me.
