@Ladyfat This is why I can't bring myself to move to these liberal west coast cities. I'm not even a conservative, and certainly not religious, but I'll grit my teeth and deal with my deep south home state any day over San Francisco, the hub of $2000+ studio apartments, homeless people taking shits right on the sidewalk, and now apparently people having public sex in broad daylight with no regard for the fact that they're making anyone else who looks outside their own window a part of the activity without their consent! Degeneracy.

Asked to comment on the historic night having occurred in their sport, the eventual medalists demurred.“No, thank you,” said Sarah Robles, the first American woman with two weightlifting medals after adding a bronze medal to her bronze earned in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.“No, thank you,” said Emily Jade Campbell from Britain, who also extolled her friend and training partner Robles, whom Campbell had edged for the silver.“I have nothing to say, I just respect the rules” that allowed Hubbard to compete, said Li Wenwen of China, one of these Olympics’ most emphatic gold medalists, with her two-discipline score of 320 total kilograms a whopping 37 ahead of Campbell.https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/olympics/2021/08/02/laurel-hubbard-transgender-olympics-weightlifter/

@Ladyfat i read in the washington post that emily also responded with "no thank you" after this and li wenwen said something like, "i have nothing to say, i just respect the rules." they know it's bullshit but can't speak up about it. also, how insulting is it that the second question these awesome women get asked is about the MAN, who stole a woman's spot and then BOMBED it... i'd be dead silent for a moment there too.

Kelly went into the backcountry of Southern Utah with a knife and a buckskin to try to learn about Anasazi Pottery by doing it the way the Anasazi did it. @MzTash totally normal response. "little girls are not pure victims. little girls are kinky and probably want to be abused by strange men in the bathroom" instead of "i would never harm a child"

@Starlit_Fire as much as i'd love a small, cozy village in the forest somewhere, a bustling city where women are working together in science, art, music, politics, etc sounds... magical. finally, women creating the dominant culture and producing intellectual work.

@sunspot I've got so many cool earrings saved on etsy. Sweet potatoes, tiny tarot cards, little Venus of Willendorfs, venus flytraps, anatomical hearts. I'm going to actually have to pierce my ears first though 😅

@HebrideanHecate i find this really quite upsetting. queer theory is a scourge in every possible way. this kind of shit makes me ashamed to be any part of "LGBT" and i want to go back in the closet and stay there. i fear everyone really does still think we are just sickos. god, i hate queer academia/queer theorists so much. nauseating.

https://kittyit.tumblr.com/post/663795536341745664/kittyit-many-feminists-are-concerned-about"Many feminists are concerned about the way transgender ideology naturalizes patriarchal views of sex stereotypes, and encourages transition as a way of attempting to escape misogyny. In this brave and thoughtful book, Max Robinson goes beyond the ‘before’ and ‘after’ of the transition she underwent and takes us through the processes that led her, first, to transition in an attempt to get relief from her distress, and then to detransition, as she discovered feminist thought and community. The author makes a case for a world in which all medical interventions for the purpose of assimilation are open to criticism. This book is a far-reaching discussion of women’s struggles to survive under patriarchy, which draws upon a legacy of radical and lesbian feminist ideas to arrive at its conclusions.Robinson’s bold discussion of both transition and detransition is meant to provoke a much-needed conversation about who benefits from transgender medicine and who has to bear the hidden cost of these interventions."Link has options for purchase in USA, UK, and AUS!

@nina Agreeing with the other commenter. I am born and raised and have lived in the deep south my entire life. I'm in SC currently. No, I'm not itching to move to the San Francisco Bay Area or anything but Trump Country is not a good place to live, particularly not for women. These people are deeply and proudly ignorant, entitled, and reactionary. There's a decent chance that they may react to feminist ideals with real, physical violence, or at the very least, property damage. Just look at the response to the pandemic and to being asked to take the most low-effort actions to prevent the spread/overwhelm of COVID in most red states. They're really off-the-shits crazy out here.I can't recommend moving to conservative, rural areas. Not worth the risk. It's possible that some states/cities with a more "libertarian" vibe are better, but I haven't looked into it yet.

@LuvGreenTea2019 Ok. And the violence against women here is the exact same and no one gives a shit and the police will more than likely not lift a finger to help women trapped in abusive marriages. My mother was with a man who beat her for decades and the cops never helped, not even once. A female cop even blamed her for it. I am sorry if I sound snappish, but I want to stress that this fantasy that it's better where people are less tolerant of trans/queer bullshit is indeed a FANTASY. They are intolerant for a reason, and they're not selective about it. Their homophobia is just a different strain than the kind you're dealing with currently. The enemy of your enemy is not always your friend.

@LuvGreenTea2019 How would I know?! I live here! I have never lived anywhere else! I'm telling you that you are optimistic to the point of being foolish. At no point did I say that California is better or easier. In fact, I explained that IT HAPPENS EVERYWHERE, and is a danger EVERYWHERE. So is what you're describing.
