https://www.androidauthority.com/how-android-app-verification-works-3603559/>Developers who register with Google as a student or hobbyist will face severe app distribution restrictions, namely a limit on the number of devices that can install their apps. To enforce this, any user wanting to install software from these developers must first retrieve a unique identifier from their device. The developer then has to input this identifier into the Android Developer Console to authorize that specific device for installation. So there's that.

TIL you can use the Linux device mapper to create a read-only overlay on an arbitrary block device: https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/67678/gnu-linux-overlay-block-device-stackable-block-deviceSay you've got a HDD with a broken OS in an unknown/malware-riddled state. You want to boot and poke it in a VM, but without making things worse if shit happens. With dm you can set up an overlay device that passes through reads, accepts writes to a local COW file, but keeps the original device untouched. You can discard or write changes to the device after you're done.

@wolf480pl Yes, they're shutting down just the consumer Crucial part (that packaged Micron components into end user products), the rest of the business stays.

Why you should set max chars on a text box that's somewhat reasonable (or perhaps why not):

Shower thoughts: Putting arbitrary text on one of the big blockchain networks as extra transaction data would make for a globally replicated, anonymous (wallets are just pubkeys), verifiable (transactions can be made with a matching privkey only) and immune to takedown (you have to kindly ask *everyone* to rollback their network state, good luck) piracy-friendly DNS system

The full Ethereum blockchain size is ~1.5TB atm so the cache and DNS resolution time might be a bit much tho
