@shaman So should spaceports be built in lower-gravity regions, to make launching easier?

In #Emacs when I try M-x package-list-packages RET, it spins its wheels for a second, contacting elpa, and then I get the message Invalid version list ‘(8 6 -4)’ and I don't know why.(This is "GNU Emacs 26.3 (build 2, x86_64-pc-linux-gnu, GTK+ Version 3.24.14) of 2020-03-26, modified by Debian" on Mint 20.1)

@galdor Understood, thanks, but for the moment I'm dependent on #Emacs not breaking for other, unrelated, reasons, and this is the version that comes in the Mint repos. I'll try as you suggested.

@hn50 There was WordPerfect 7 for Unix/X at one stage, too. The downloadable distro file was called something like GUILG000 (they didn't really understand lowercase and filetypes); the GUI was because they considered the character-cell DOS version to be the /real/ WP and this GUI thing was just a fad. It was wobbly: virtually everything in the window which looked clickable, *was*, and it was horribly sensitive to the mouse pointer, so just moving the cursor activated stuff.

@CerstinMahlow I have stickers all over mine, not just as a record of conferences, software, and campaigns, but also to protect the lid and divert attention from the accumulated scratches and dents collected over the years. I have a much bigger, older laptop that I was told I should keep sticker-free because it "wasn't professional".

@catvalente Also, Americans please be aware: the #BBC, formerly known for its independence, is now largely a mouthpiece of the #Conservative government. Sport and Entertainment mostly untouched, but News heavily polluted, and Current Affairs under a #Brexit and #No.10 muzzle. Panels contain a far-right puppet "for balance" even when none is needed. Serious #journalists are still there, but struggling to report fairly, knowing that their job is on the line if they put a foot wrong.

@webmink @osi @EU_Commission @EC_OSPO I've been looking for a 1–sentence summary of Open Source licences, and I'd like to start working with this one if I may.

@EU_Commission Important to understand that this applies to NEW devices only. Old devices will not be retro-fitted with USB-C. You will still need your old charger[s] for many years to come.
