Full error:nginx_1 | 2023/02/03 23:50:21 [error] 20#20: *1 connect() failed (113: No route to host) while connecting to upstream, client: 192.168.32.1, server: example.com, request: "GET / HTTP/1.1", upstream: "http://192.168.16.3:80/", host: "localhost:8080"I don't understand why the client IP is on a different network to the upstream IP - nginx is on two Docker networks, do I need to configure something to ensure correct routing?

Progress... I added the wordpress container to external_network and now the proxy request is passed through! I now have an error trying to connect to the database 🙂 Stopping for the night. Docker networking nuances has gotten the better of me - for now.

I "fixed" it be putting everything on a single bridge network. How can I proxy_pass from an nginx RPC to a wordpress/Apache/MySQL worker bee, with a database on an internal bridge?

Friends: I'm trying to figure out best practices for deploying memcached as an object cache for WordPress using docker-compose. As far as I can tell, the process is deploy a memcached container, and enable a WP plugin like WP Super Cache and configure it to use the memcached instance. My Q: what's the best way to install and configure a plugin with Docker? A build step? A volume share on the host? Build a custom container and upload it to a repository?

@mekkaokereke Sorry to see you move, happy to see that you have the opportunity. Following now at Hachyderm. Which, apparently, I have been pronouncing wrong. I thought it was "hashy-derm", but apparently it is "hacky-derm".

So... for people who administer large web properties: how do you handle one-time/infrequent tasks with automation? Things like getting/renewing an SSL script? Do you do them manually as needed and copy the certs & keys around with automation?

I know some old people, apparently! 23% of respondents born before 1967, and another 23% between '67 and '75.

@alexelcu Absolutely! Does the right to fork also include the right to benefit from the work of the forkee?

@mjg59 I think you could have stopped at "company". All companies are amoral in the right circumstances.

Consider: children of the wealthy graduate College (in the US) without a lot of debt. The children of middle class families graduate College with lots of college debt. So college debt is a way to keep students from families with modest revenues from getting ahead after graduation.

@mjg59 As a multi-passport person, do you have to use the same passport at either end of the same flight? Or can you leave the US as a US citizen, and enter the UK as a UK citizen?

@mjg59 I don't understand what the downside of having workers organize is in the US - is the thinking that organized workers will act in bad faith?

@evan Yes, but... False dichotomy. And voting for someone doesn't endorse all parts of their platform.

@evan Because there are rarely only two courses of action. To give just a few alternatives:* Vote for another candidate in the primary * Try to talk to your representative by phone, letter, or town hall to let them know how you feel * Abstain from voting altogether * Vote for a third candidate
