       @simon hah, yes! I've gotten into a habit of asking multiple things per question, and also "I expect a lengthy response" (this was when I asked it to do word association on the word "tensor")

       @simon @kottke in turn, after reading both of your posts, I feel the same way. but I have also found that I must draw a line between tasks where I’m happy to have the AI do it entirely for me, and where I will do it together with the AI, but still learn what’s going on. I don’t want my skills to atrophy

       @brainwane Huh. I did not realize that not everyone negotiates when you are laid off. Your specific instance was a very interesting and unique one. The negotiation I'm used to is “we'll give you 4 weeks" "are you joking? the standard is 12" "ok we'll give you 6" "alright great I'll take that; bye”

       @brainwane oh, all my experience is US. certainly there’s no legal standard. the “standard” I meant is what I’ve seen for me and my friends in Silicon Valley. in terms of people not negotiating… I guess this deserves some attention and education! IMO when you’re laid off the employer is eager to quickly get you to agree never to sue, so you always have a little leverage. always worth asking for more weeks of severance pay
