@kev I don't think I was part of the first wave, and I don't use Twitter, but the news made me aware of Mastodon, so I joined today!

@mastodonusercount Anyone care to explain to me the sudden recent uptick? Not seeing anything obvious on the news...

@fosserytech Pitivi and openshot worked ok last time I used them, but I agree, crashing was always such an issue for years.

@rms I think there needs to be a hard limit on sizes. Bit like a congestion charging zone, will also include a size requirement.

Have been meaning to start a blog for a while, and I have my first article which I have called "The Strange Case of the Rogue HP-12c Calculator". Hopefully some of you may find this interesting! https://dm319.github.io/pages/2024_09_09_hp12_comma.html #calculator

@pluralistic I saw your book on accountants and your fantastic article on HP inks today, and I couldn't resist sending you this blog I wrote. It isn't exactly evil but I think you might find it curious : https://dm319.github.io/pages/2024_09_09_hp12_comma.html

@tomjennings Glad you enjoyed it! Yes it's very odd, and I wonder who and how it came about. Since the blog I've found out it runs on a 16 digit precision. Yes, you oddly can get a modern HP-12c (not this strange one) and flash it with the HP-15c CE firmware. The latest HP-15c (which is just on the verge of being sold out BTW!) has a secret HP-16c mode. Interesting idea about the keycaps - the old ones were double shot. There's also the DM-16L.
