       @brosandprose It seems like New Year's Eve is a chronic letdown for almost everybody, in the service of a promised magical night which only materializes for a handful of folks. I think the peer pressure to drink arises partly out of a shared desperation borne of knowing this, at some level.I haven't gone out on New Year's Eve in a long time, although I might have a beer if the mood strikes me. (Disclosure: I'm married, so I don't have holiday aloneness to contend with.)
