@BCLADY Salmon are super important! -- for biodiversity, for other animals, for the environment, for so many reasons. I think the easiest thing every one of us can do to "help" is to stop eating salmon!! That way there will be less need for farming, less cruelty, and we can preserve important habitats. But alas, that's an impossible ask... So yes, agreed! Paste your text in a word doc next time so at least you have a back up if it erases :P

And she's doing the responsible thing by not unfairly leading you on, e.g. taking transit instead of agreeing to get a ride. It's a little strange of you to say she's wasting her time/money etc. by taking transit. She's not obligated to you. You're not entitled to her. And, please for all that is good, stop assuming! She obviously does not view you as a friend. She spelled it out very clearly for you, but you're still in denial about it. Red flags everywhere. I suspect she might even be kicking herself right now for taking this job because it implies a certain obligation to be friends with you. But it sounds like she's just trying to remain acquaintances/coworkers. Just let her do that. I've read a few of your posts about online dating, and at risk of sounding harsh, women can smell desperation a mile away. It's the most unattractive quality. This is a cliche, but it's important to create a fulfilling life you want without a partner. Usually, you will find someone when you're not looking. And if you don't, that's fine too.

@polarisera @MandyJane @Chirppa TBH I'm not a huge fan of that blog. After reading some of Bilek's work and hearing her talk about this stuff, it all seems to be reduced to 'transhumanism' -- there are many reasons for the rise of gender id, and I often find her anecdotes to be overly simplistic and bordering conspiratorial (probably an unpopular opinion I know). I hope Glenn will read other stuff first, like Abigail Shrier's book, or Helen Joyce's :D

Different layers of government just means more bureaucracy, more special interests, and more money in corporate pockets. Doesn't mean anything. As @LaylaAlexandrovna said, it's largely an illusion. Provinces don't have as much autonomy as you think they do. And I personally don't care about our reputation. Many of us are too worried about stagnant wages, widening socioeconomic divide, higher cost of living, housing unaffordability, pillaging of natural resources, the list goes on. Canada is not progressive. That is one of the biggest facades ever. It's almost insulting when other people say that lol.

So far:Greens got 294,455 (2.3%) votes and won 2 seats.PPC got 675,110 (5.2%) votes and have zero seats.So my dumb dumb question is...does that mean if we had proportional representation, PPC votes would be more evenly represented? Cause right now PPC has almost double the votes, but zero seats.

@LaylaAlexandrovna @MellowMarigold @Sherri_Ingrey I know right. When I used to work with refugees & immigrants, they would tell me how disappointed they were coming to Canada. From my limited experience, almost every single one has said they would go back to their home if they could (if it was safe, etc.) They're always so disappointed, and understandably so. People hype Canada up wayyyy too much.

It wouldn't have made a difference but it would have been historically significant and symbolically would say a lot about Canadians priorities. @Froggo All this stuff was announced months ago but the real surprising part for me was no EI!!! Absolutely insane!! We all pay into this system, and when we need it most, we are denied it. So so wrong. And people still spew the "It's your choice" bull. It's coercion, full stop.
