@shadowfacts i agree that the Empire plot line was much better than the foundation. sadly for the show, i think that's largely down to Pace, Bilton, Mann and Birn being just better actors than the others.Lou Llobell could also be a fine actor, she was just criminally underused for plot reasons.lastly, i just found the Empire storyline more human and appealing, Dawn's growing sense of wrongness, Day's slow realisation that Seldon was right and his efforts to grow (even tho he's still a monster)Dawn affected me more than i thought, btw, Bilton and my eldest look remarkably similar, and my eldest is also left-handed and colour blind. when he sought protection from Demerzel, my heart broke, and then, well... yeah. floods.

if you’re willing and able to stump up €30 a year to use mastodon, maybe you could pay that to your instance admin? (as long as you’re not on garg’s own hellsites) i know people are all excited to use the same stuff from the same people who made the other place bearable, but without strong viable community instances, this place dies.

i know i saw it on here already, but everyone needs to normalise the use of oligarch to describe tech- and finance-billionaires, instead of using the terms they want us to use, like leader, visionary or entrepeneur.because what they are, more than anything else, is oligarchs. our societies have become oligarchies, where their money buys them immunity from consequences, and our nominal leaders prostrate themselves before the oligarchical class.

@mercedesallen @onepict for the longest time Orban’s Fidesz Party was in the EPP - the European Peoples’ Party, the “Christian Democrat” fraction in the EuroParl.the EPP variously blocked, dissimulated, and prevented any and all criticism of Fidesz, usually supported strongly by Merkel. nothing they did - the courts reforms, the media ownership, the Soros bullshit - was allowed to interfere with the EPP support for their member.by the time he ordered his MEPs to leave the EPP in 2021 it was far too late, Hungary was an actual fascist state. note that they were never kicked out of the EPP, they left.
