i want to know how to reconcile these two ideas:1. psychologically manipulative tactics are dangerous and should be legislated against2. people are rational actors who should be trusted to make their own decisionsif you disregard 1, you let advertisers, marketers, MLMs, gambling companies etc. get away with preying at vulnerable peopleif you disregard 2, then that means the entire basis of any kind of democratic government is worthless and we could just as well go back to monarchy or whatever

dude's livelihood is entirely sustained by volunteers, presumably very few of them rich, donating on patreon because they like his lobster psychologymaybe it's just me, but when he of all people tries to defend capitalism and "natural hierarchy", that sounds kinda absurd

what i'm looking for in a mastodon instance:• probably somewhere below 1000 users• keeps up with mastodon server updates• can be glitchsoc, heard it has nice features• preferably an admin who's not a tankie• if possible, a way to re-import all the toots from that export thingy mastodon has

#flatpak should passthrough ~/.icons and ~/.themes to the containers, along with the corresponding gtk3 settings, so that if i have custom cursor themes, it also works inside a container
