If you:1. take advantage of Mastdon’s features,2. be mindful your audience is not the same as youand 3. enjoy making new connections as you find people to followThen you’re golden.Keep in mind it’s easy to be accidentally ableist so part of 1&2 means using CamelCase hashtags and Alt descriptions on your pictures. You don’t have to of course however you do exclude part of your audience if you don’t use them.

There is a petition out there to remove #LGBT content from the school curriculum here in the UK. Disappointingly it now has over 202,000 signatures and grows even while the government has commented to say they’re not changing it.There is another, counter petition to keep LGBT content which I’m pleased has grown to almost 90,000 and yet the distribution in the images continues to hold pretty true. Good on you Britain. Keep signing to show we won’t be pushed into stepping back in time.The Petitions site has maps of signatory postcodes. Here are the maps for the Remove and Keep petitions. It's clear there's a motivated minority pushing to remove LGBT content from schools but it's great to see a more equal desire across the country to keep it in.90,000 signatures in support isn't enough so,🇬🇧 In the UK? @lauren @arpcomics If done properly with a decentralised zero-knowledge-proof ID solution government documents could be used to verify identity without sharing personal info with the networks (or the government for that matter).The tech exists but is their the appetite to implement?

@lauren @arpcomics Both/all are possible with DID/SSI, however the more traditional corporate-led, certificate-based approach Apple and others are taking will likely win out unless government actively take the lead and adopting the verifiable credential W3C standard.

@grammargirl The format of your document is relevant however like a grammar checker you need to interpret the errors that get flagged. Not all accessibility checkers get everything right which is why I typically always check a site with at least two.To my mind I recommend you write out the URL in full but also make it an actual link too. If the document is printed it will be readable (unlike “meaningful” link text). If it’s not being printed it can be followed directly for further reading.

Is my #coffee hobby getting out of hand yet?I started with a Sage Barista Express bean-to-cup machine a few years ago however this year things have kicked up a notch.Each month I’ve added something and since Christmas I’ve added:☑️ a more precise scale (to measure beans to the decimal point)☑️ a little tea dish (to weigh the beans in)☑️ a portafilter funnel (to capture all the ground coffee)☑️ a naked portafilter (so I can see the pull and any channeling)☑️ a WDT tool (to distribute grounds in the portafilter)☑️ a rotating distributor and tamper combo (to prepare the puck of coffee)☑️ a little tamping mat (to tamp the coffee down on)☑️ a milk frother (for my daughter’s hot chocolates)I’ve recently bought some great coffee from @roastinghouse which comes in compostable bags and so in the last month I’ve added:☑️ two Fellow Atmos 0.7l vacuum containers (to protect the beans)☑️ a chalk pen (to label what’s in them)Still to get over the next three months:➡️ two more Fellow Atmos containers➡️ a single-dose bellows hopper for the Sage Barista (for space and to clear the grinder after each grind)➡️ a shelf (to put everything on!)All this just to make myself double espressos and Americanos. Sometimes I wish my friend never introduced me to James Hoffman’s YouTube channel! 😅#ADHD

@stannard @roastinghouse Aha. Thank you. One addition a month is how I got to where I’m at.On the wall is a little row of pig’s bottoms and tails shaped into hooks. We use them for keys and wha not (my coffee setup is near the back door).I think this might be them: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/175776057535I’m not yet familiar enough with different coffees to know my favourites however I buy in small batches and haven’t come across one yet that I didn’t.Good luck sneaking in a coffee frother. It might have to live in a drawer if you can’t find a blue one!

@stannard @roastinghouse That eBay one is listed a few times however it looks like it might be a cheaper/simpler version. On ours the first pig is larger, mummy pig I guess. She has her head turned back and is looking at whoever is hanging up their keys. 🐷
