@gcluley @woland @jerry @JohnsNotHere one of the things I personally enjoy about all of your podcast's are the different approaches. #smashingsecurity is more mainstream and #defensivesecurity has, in my view, a news based discussion format that provides good depth and opinion. The missing piece for me is the interview/focused topic that #purplesquadsecurity delivers. Over the past year I've really enjoyed this triumvirate of security intellectuals sharing their insights!

@jerry wouldn't skip a beat, sadly. One day we'll all be there and we'll have forgotten there ever was an ip4, pretty sure we'll also be long dead though!!😁

Has anyone been to, is going to or has heard of https://www.infosecurityeurope.com ? I've been able to get a day off for it as looks like a lot of the talks might actually be useful, they also have a SANS CTF, though I may give it a miss. Not that confident!

@jerry Personally I find the views of their majority user base distasteful and the policies of the site owners thin and obnoxious, do you ban them from connecting or posting to this instance, meh. I mean a far right racist tit for brains can still be interested in info sec, it's all the other crap you don't want. If you see an uptick in stuff you don't want, banbanban. On the other hand, do you want to enable the voices/skill/knowledge of those that *probably* are, in your view, abhorrent? Hmm

@maxeddy lol you are a buffoonπŸ˜‚ . Man you got burned. Right there. Feel it? Ouch. Ahh. I need to use 'buffoon' more. Ample opportunity with our likely incoming PM.

@r000t, I begun to watch the vid gabs dev had posted, I lasted like thirty seconds, but... Wow. I mean wow. Soooo much anger. That right there is why hugs as a kid are so important. Glad I voted yes in @jerry poll, tbh.

@sullybiker @architect @jerry I've got a Nissan Leaf, nicest car I've ever owned. However there is a guy round the corner with a Tesla. He watches me as I walk the kids to school. I'm not a 'car' person but I stare every time! The Nissan is also the only car I've ever ownedπŸ˜‰

@jerry An alligator, in a pond, easily accessible when walking ones dogs. Now I see a good reason for the USA's mental gun laws. Feel bad for your friend, but hey, they didn't get eaten...

@JohnsNotHere: I'd agree with @m4iler 30 days with a late fee. It's a fair compromise that most people will find agreeable. Don't shy away from gentle, then firm, reminders for payment though. I had clients that were consistently late. I worked closely with them and knew it was just poor process on their behalf. After a while a quite chat then a notice of intent to charge late fees soon sorted things out.

@simon @pinkelephant interesting to see the results here. I've been a SuSE user since the mid 2000's, so it's heartening to see it do well in a completely random online poll of a niche group of technical users. 😁

@woland no worries. They are 3 uni post grads who seem keen on getting out there and doing talks. Figured it might fit the profile of the event.

@opensuse not the sort to get excited about an OS release, but have to admit, I might let out a little squeak of excitement when I gets to upgrade.

@Ent I got the drill out during lockdown, hdmi ethernet usb, trunking etc, now have one pc in office cabled to TV in living room, we can game together and it's sweet. Mainly Civ and ESO. Thing to remember tho, she might enjoy completely different aspects of any game to you. Mine likes the beauty of the ESO landscapes and the humour in the characters, but doesn't care for the grind hates pvp, Civ she likes to build stuff, so I make the cash and get the guns, which works for me.
