@gme “claims to have created”, “misinformation” etc. sounds pretty harsh.Since you emphasise the non-mastodon fediverse, may I ask your sense for the extent to which there’s any common culture / etiquette etc across all of it? Beyond what would also be admirable on Twitter, Facebook, Youtube etc.?

@gme yeah ideally it would be a varied landscape of different kinds of place and culture, with some universals. Much of what I have heard this week has been “here is how to behave (anywhere on Mastodon) so as to not be a jerk”, without indication that different ways of being can have homes on different servers.

Are kids using Mastodon, masodon.social, ActivityPub and Fediverse? Any emerging conventions, rules, guidelines? (in the community I mean, rather than in the various applicable laws worldwide) #mastodon #activitypub #fediverse

@darnell @searchliaison there are relevant software licensing concerns - see https://opensource.google/documentation/reference/using/agpl-policy

@darnell @searchliaison while I do work for Google, I am not a lawyer nor responsible for these decisions. All I’d say for sure is that the licensing seems to discourage rich integrations with existing non-AGPL systems & adds workflow debt to subsequent changes too. That aside, I am not sure domain-name based verification is the best way to be sure of what you’re reading. There are other ways eg rel=me that might be more flexible. Not every org has the resources to run servers.

@stux fwiw I had trouble with using a password manager in iOS (Chrome browser). Looks like it expects keystrokes not auto-fill. Anyway, congratulations!

@chockenberry “It feels like the time is right for a truly universal timeline” - there’s some wariness of algorithmic feeds (vs time ordered) in mastodon. Any sense for how those expectations fit with “universal timeline”?
