@Revertron @MediaLawProf It’s illegal as it was not a valid reason for a warrant. The judge signed off as a favour or to not deal with the wrath of the officers. The Judge has failed to respond as to why she would authorise such a warrant.

@charadon @RL_Dane To me it is absolutely both the content and discovery. That’s not to say there’s not any quality content but not like YouTube. If someone of the YouTube accounts I follow had PeerTube accounts that would be golden. There also needs to be client options. I do believe it can be a good option. Nebula is also a decent option if YouTube craps out.

@RL_Dane @charadon That’s fair and reasonable but I imagine if there was really good content people would be pushing their client and PeerTube channels. I do hope that one day we can get there. But, first the search must be greatly improved, client options, make it easy to port YT accounts and or content. Then the next phase could start

@silverpill @Kye What does cryptocurrency have to do with being open? Is Nostr not open?There’s several reasons as to why not build on AP but I’ll narrow them down to two. Tech debt and cultural debt. Many people here are anti-capitalist & anti Dorsey. Out of their own principles they never would’ve adopted bsky implementation of AP. That team was hired & given millions. That would be a waste to develop something that many would have fought them on & not used anyways

@wjmaggos cultural debt meaning the bad parts that have been allowed to pervade mastodon for years. It’s not selfish for them to go for their communities? How is that selfish? This place is anti-capitalist, anti-viral, fought against full text search and quotes. Important social movements would’ve never been allowed to happen here. @Jain @thenexusofprivacy fits more with the ethos of the Fediverse than simply everyone having relationships with everyone. Isn’t the whole point not to mirror Twitter’s town hall? Allowlist makes sense & provides users & admin more control. Allowlist is more reflective of how people have relationships in real life. Isn’t the Fedi always going on about consent-based social networking?
