Dear Friends,Psa 1:1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.Psa 1:2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.Psa 1:3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.Psa 1:4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.Psa 1:5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.Psa 1:6 For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish. As we prepare to begin a new year, I chose Psalm one for our text for today. I believe that this psalm is the first psalm for a reason. Let me sum up the first two verses, avoid bad company and meditate upon God’s Word. The beginning of this psalm is not unlike the beginning of the book of Proverbs. As we look at Proverbs chapter one, we see that verses one through six are an introduction and tell the purpose of the book. Verse six is the actual beginning of Solomon’s good advice. He tells us that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Verses eight through nineteen are a warning to stay away from evil companions. This is very similar to Psalm one. We have got to have the right beginning. Avoiding evil influences and immersing ourselves in the good influence of God’s Word is the beginning of wisdom and the blessed life. As we begin this new year, let us think about wisdom and the life that God blesses. The source of both of these is the same.Psa 111:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever. Pro 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. In His Service,Dale

Dear Friends,Luk 16:4 I am resolved what to do, that, when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses. The dishonest steward made a resolution concerning his future. He knew he was going to be fired, so he resolved to take steps to secure his future financial situation. Many people are making New Year’s resolutions today. The idea of resolutions reminds me of a great old hymn, “I am Resolved”. As we go into this new year, let the words of this hymn be our resolution.I am resolved no longer to linger,Charmed by the world’s delight,Things that are higher, things that are nobler,These have allured my sight.RefrainI will hasten to Him, hasten so glad and free;Jesus, greatest, highest, I will come to Thee.I will hasten, hasten to Him, hasten so glad and free;Jesus, Jesus, greatest, highest, I will come to Thee.I am resolved to go to the Savior,Leaving my sin and strife; He is the true One, He is the just One,He hath the words of life.RefrainI am resolved to follow the Savior,Faithful and true each day;Heed what He sayeth, do what He willeth,He is the living Way.RefrainI am resolved to enter the kingdomLeaving the paths of sin;Friends may oppose me, foes may beset me,Still will I enter in.RefrainI am resolved, and who will go with me?Come, friends, without delay,Taught by the Bible, led by the Spirit,We’ll walk the heav’nly way.RefrainIn His Service,Dale

Dear Friends,Col 4:2 Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving; Keep praying! Jesus tells a parable about an unjust judge. A parable is an earthly story with a heavenly meaning. And in this one particular parable, Jesus compares God to an unjust judge. Why would Jesus compare our loving Heavenly Father to an unjust judge? Well, it is really more of a contrast.Luk 18:1 And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;Luk 18:2 Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man:Luk 18:3 And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary.Luk 18:4 And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;Luk 18:5 Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.Luk 18:6 And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith.Luk 18:7 And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?Luk 18:8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth? You see, in this parable, the unjust judge granted the widow’s petition, not because he truly cared about her, but because of her, “continual coming”. The point is this: the unconcerned, detached, unjust judge did the right thing on behalf of the widow, just because she continually asked. How much more will our loving Heavenly Father, “avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him”? So keep praying! God is on our side! He will hear and answer our prayers!Psa 50:14 Offer unto God thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the most High:Psa 50:15 And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.In His Service,Dale

Dear Friends,Isa 40:1 Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God. Comfort. We often turn to God’s Word for comfort. There are certainly many times in which we need comfort. Like a compassionate father, our God wants to comfort us in our times of difficulty.Psa 103:13 Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him. In our times of trial and suffering, God is there. Saint Paul tells us that God is the God of all comfort.2Co 1:3 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;2Co 1:4 Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.God is not the God of some comfort, or of much comfort, or of most comfort, our God is the God of all comfort. And God just doesn’t comfort us in some of our tribulations, or in many of our tribulations, or in most of our tribulations, God comforts us in all of our tribulations. And then, because we are receiving comfort from God, we can share His comfort with those who are going through, “any trouble”. What a glorious thought! God comforts us, we comfort others. Any and all troubles and difficulties that we might face today can be turned into an opportunity to praise God for His comfort, and to share His comfort with others. As we go through this day, we may face trials, temptations, and troubles of various sorts, but in those difficulties God is giving us comfort as only He can.Jhn 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;Jhn 14:17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.And with the comfort that we receive from God through His Holy Spirit, we can become a source of comfort for others. If you face any trouble today, look up!Psa 50:15 And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me. In His Service,Dale

Dear Friends,Psa 93:1 The LORD reigneth, he is clothed with majesty; the LORD is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself: the world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved.Psa 93:2 Thy throne is established of old: thou art from everlasting.Psa 93:3 The floods have lifted up, O LORD, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their waves.Psa 93:4 The LORD on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea.Psa 93:5 Thy testimonies are very sure: holiness becometh thine house, O LORD, for ever.God reigns. God is the sovereign King of the universe. His power is unlimited and unimaginable. He spoke the heavens and the earth into existence. There is nothing too difficult for Him. Jer 32:17 Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee: Our text for today tells us that, “the Lord reigneth”. Many modern translations simply say that, “The LORD is king.” GNB. The idea is the same. God is in charge and nothing can oppose His sovereign power.Pro 21:30 There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD. As we go through this day, let us be glad that someone is in charge, and that that someone is our loving Heavenly Father!Isa 52:7 How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth! Dear Friends,Jas 5:11 Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy. Endurance. When I was a boy, we had something called The President’s Physical Fitness Test. It was encouraged in all schools. It was comprised of various exercises that would evaluate the overall fitness of the students. We had to do things like, jumping jacks, sit-ups, pushups, and pull-ups on a bar. Our teacher recorded how many repetitions of each exercise that we were able to complete. The girls were just required to hang from the chinning bar, and timed for how long they could hang there. At the end of the test, came something that I dreaded, the 600 yard dash. I don’t know why they called it a dash, to me, it was more like a slog. But, it was part of the test, and we were timed. We had to run so many laps around the perimeter of the playground, and I hated it. It was like torture. I was never built to be a distance runner. Before football practice, we used to have to run 10 laps around the perimeter of the football field before practice began each evening. Again, I dreaded it. We would all wait around until the bell at the Catholic Church sounded the 6pm chime. When it rang, we started to run, and there was always some smart aleck at the front setting a fast pace. Those were some of my early experiences with endurance. I learned that everything in life was not just fun and games. Some things have to be endured. The Christian life is an endurance race. We have to keep our eyes on the prize, just like Saint Paul.2Ti 4:8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. As we go through this day, let us keep our eyes on the prize, and endure what ever we are faced with like a good soldier.2Ti 2:3 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. Our struggles and trials will not last forever, but our reward will!Psa 30:5 For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. Dear Friends,Luk 11:28 But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it. The Christian religion is a call to action. It is not a mere intellectual exercise. As Christians, we must obey the teachings that we receive. One can have all of the correct doctrinal beliefs, and yet be disobedient in the eyes of God.Jas 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. Actions are what separate the wise man from the fool.Luk 6:46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?Luk 6:47 Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like:Luk 6:48 He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.Luk 6:49 But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great. As you and I go through this day, let us make sure that our lives are matching what we profess to believe.Rom 2:13 (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified. Dear Friends,Jas 1:2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Happy warriors. As Christians we are to be joyful in the good times as well as the bad times, knowing that our ultimate victory has been secured by the sacrificial death of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. We are commanded to rejoice. For the Christian, being joyful is not optional.Php 2:17 Yea, and if I be offered upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I joy, and rejoice with you all. Php 3:1 Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not grievous, but for you it is safe. Php 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice. As we go through this day let us look for reasons to be happy, joyful warriors, as we serve our Lord, knowing that we are marching to a certain victory!Mat 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. Luk 1:33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.Rev 11:15 And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever. Dear Friends,Jas 1:19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:Jas 1:20 For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.Jas 1:21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.Jas 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.Jas 1:23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:Jas 1:24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.Jas 1:25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.Jas 1:26 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.Jas 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.Be a doer, not just a hearer. Too many people today believe all the right things, and make all of the right professions, however, they seem to fail in the execution of their professed beliefs. In our text for today, we are reminded what pure religion is. It is not just about professing a belief in charity, it is about actual charity. And it is not just about condemning sin, but it is about actually abstaining from sin. As we go through this day, let us make sure that our lifestyles reflect the beliefs that we profess.Jas 2:14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?Jas 2:15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,Jas 2:16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?Jas 2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.Jas 2:18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. In His Service,Dale

Dear Friends,Php 3:12 Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.Php 3:13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,Php 3:14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.Php 3:15 Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.Php 3:16 Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.Keep on keeping on. The Apostle Paul kept pressing on. We have to do the same thing. We might feel weary, but we have to keep going.Gal 6:9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. 2Th 3:13 But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing. Dear Friends,1Co 15:33 Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners. Be not deceived. We live in a world that has been corrupted by deception. It all started in the Garden of Eden.Gen 3:1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?Gen 3:2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:Gen 3:3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.Gen 3:4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:Gen 3:13 And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat. Sadly for us, the old Serpent is still beguiling people.Jhn 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. 2Co 11:3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. As we go through this day, let us be wary of Satan’s devices.2Co 2:11 Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices. Do not be deceived!Gal 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. In His Service,Dale

Dear Friends,Psa 34:11 Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD.Psa 34:12 What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good?Psa 34:13 Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.Psa 34:14 Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.Psa 34:15 The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.Psa 34:16 The face of the LORD is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.Psa 34:17 The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.Psa 34:18 The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.Psa 34:19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.Psa 34:20 He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken.Psa 34:21 Evil shall slay the wicked: and they that hate the righteous shall be desolate.Psa 34:22 The LORD redeemeth the soul of his servants: and none of them that trust in him shall be desolate. Are you teachable? If we are teachable, we will never be desolate. When we stop our ears to the wisdom of the Lord, we are asking for trouble. As we go through this day, let us remain teachable, and open to the wisdom of the Lord.Pro 4:1 Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.Pro 4:2 For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law.Pro 4:3 For I was my father's son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother.Pro 4:4 He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live.Pro 4:5 Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.Pro 4:6 Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.In His Service,Dale

Dear Friends,Mat 22:2 The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son,Mat 22:3 And sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come.Mat 22:4 Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage.Mat 22:5 But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise:Mat 22:6 And the remnant took his servants, and entreated them spitefully, and slew them.Mat 22:7 But when the king heard thereof, he was wroth: and he sent forth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city.Mat 22:8 Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they which were bidden were not worthy.Mat 22:9 Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage. We are all invited to the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. What is your response to the invitation? You are also invited to attend church tomorrow. (If you haven’t been invited lately, let me cordially extend that invitation right now.). Please do not turn down this invitation. It could be the start of something beautiful.Rev 19:6 And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.Rev 19:7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.Rev 19:8 And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.Rev 19:9 And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.In His Service,Dale

Dear Friends,Mat 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.Mat 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.Mat 11:30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.Come unto me. You have probably heard the phrase, “Come to Jesus moment”. It might be used in various contexts. Someone might say, “After he got called into the main office, he had a real come to Jesus moment.” A real “come to Jesus moment” is when we make Him Lord of our lives. The people on the Day of Pentecost had a real come to Jesus moment.Act 2:36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.Act 2:37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?Act 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. So did the Philippians jailer.Act 16:27 And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled.Act 16:28 But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here.Act 16:29 Then he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas,Act 16:30 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?Act 16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. When we come to Jesus we can take comfort in the fact that He will never cast us out.Jhn 6:37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.In His Service,Dale
