@malin Late reply but this is a super common problem with aur. Just pass --skipinteg to makepkg or edit the outdated sha256sum in the PKGBUILD file or replace it with "skip". The flag to pass flags to makepkg in yay is --mflags So it'd be:yay -S darkmod --mflags "--skipinteg"

@malin Nope, it has less features which is the point. If you want something extra you have to learn to edit/compile C. Life is simpler when your entire window manager is a single 2000 line .c file.

@malin C is beyond me too, I can't write it but it's good to learn to change paramaters/add patches.

@malin happy new one too! Is VNC still relevant? I thought you could use X11 forwarding over ssh for most things.

@malin Looks pretty cool. I've never really used a file explorer. I try to do everything with dirs to improve my bash fu. I might give it a try though.

@malin yeah this is super powerful. I love the shortcuts for compressing/uncompressing files. .tar.gz files take so long

@sxp xmpp with omemo or otr v4 is superior to all of these.

@inditoot @sxp the conversations app on android is open source and uses omemo automatically. You just need an xmpp account with systemli.org something similar

@inditoot @sxp It does but it doesn't have as many features as Discord. My understanding is there are some technical problems with implementing e2e encryption with deniability and forward secrecy in group chats that haven't been fully solved so otr and most omemo implementations avoid it. Should work with the conversations app though.

@inditoot It's just an xmpp server that is easy to sign up to and is in a decent jurisdiction with minimized metadata retention. If you disagree with the their politics you can use whatever xmpp server you want. that's the beauty of an open protocol over something like signal.

Github now allows free private repositories. Guess this means Microsoft wants more private data to monetise. Their objectives are finally becoming clear!

@inditoot It's a fairly similar process to setting up an email server I haven't tried myself, just need to make sure whatever you use has the required xmpp protocol extensions for omemo, message carbons etc.

@malin It's hard to know what's more insane, the people who think positions of planets decide destiny and control the economy or the Austrian school cryptocurrency libertarians that think free market capitalism will fix everything.

@malin everytime I try to script. That's why I like to use the python CLI cause you can just test everything line by line

@malin @areppo If it's a detatched signature file as it sounds using gpg --verify-files ubuntu.iso.sig will automatically check the sha256sum of the iso if it's in the same folder, so if you get a good signature the sha256sum is good too.
