@Shamar @aral @bob Nope, we were talking about how giant companies use software and the Internet to manipulate the population and undermine democracy; How one would need open source software and in extension decentralized services as an alternative to privacy violating existing software.I was then making the point that if we want open source decentralized software, we'd have to motivate people to work on that instead of working for the data industry and also make it possible for them to feed their families while doing so.So put bluntly: enable and motivate people to choose different jobs or to leave their jobs at the big corporations.

@Shamar @aral @bob Imo, if the majority of people were much concerned with their impact on society and trying to make a positive contribution, the world around you would be different.

@elomatreb @keithzg It's not a standard part of email. It's a special 'feature' offered by gmail (and possibly others) but you cannot rely on it for random domains. Postfix for example treats the + as a normal character.

@elomatreb @keithzg yes, it's a neat trick and totally within the spec, as handling the part left of the '@' is up to the receiving server. You just can't assume your target server will ignore anything past the '+' when choosing the proper recipient.

@Caelyn @J if you're talking about ds3, be prepared to be _very_ squishy.I'm doing a sorc run currently, it works well as long as I can one-shot foes. If it takes two shots, that still works on slow enemies. The casting times are just so long..Have fun! :)

@pea I'm so sorry you have to deal with this shit.If that person was a proper human, they'd know that reducing anyone to tears is absolutely unacceptable. If they were at all qualified for their position, they'd know that happy employees are productive employees and they're the person actually detrimental to productivity rather than you.Such an asshole.😡There's a hug if you want one....those are a lot easier to judge consent for in person.

@roko she'd be a prime example to disprove the sign but it doesn't talk about her freedoms (although it pretends to) it talks about corporate freedoms. So the photo is sadly missing the really sinister angle....and it shows that the sign works.A house foreclosure next to it would get the argument across more effectively.Sorry, sometimes I'm too cynical.

@mitsu this happens to me almost the moment I hear their name..mostly because I'm too focused on the person, their facial expressions, their movements, and so on....too focused on that stream of perceptions to take a mental step back and think about things.

@aparrish I'm not sure we can attribute a malicious intent here. There's also the possibility that they didn't have a way to address all the parents and opted for the second best solution.I get organization-wide mass email dozens of times a day, every one of which is addressed directly at the recipient and assumes interest/relevance but hardly any of those is interesting/relevant to me.While I perceive them as spam, I don't think all those writers think the majority of people in the respective mailing list fit into the group that their mail is interesting to.They're probably just lazy or in need of better filtering tools (although experience shows people don't use those even if present).Regardless, I wish people were better at accepting each other. The intolerance and divisiveness just suck.

Guardian: When [EU] leaders asked May what she was going to do if her deal was voted down, an official added that the prime minister replied that she was following her ‘Plan A’ of getting it through. It was then the EU decided that “she didn’t have a plan so they needed to come up with one for her”, the source added. Not really a surprise on May's end... I wonder what they will come up with and whether or not she will accept that offer.

@aparrish I'm particularly sensitive to minority-flavoured slurs as a result of having been at their receiving end for quite some time. The world needs more empathy (people actually feeling the feelings they cause in others). There were probably enough situations that lead to your sensitivity and I'm sorry you had to experience any of them.

@jwildeboer It's amazing how great danger can unify people. I wonder why that doesn't work for the UK though...I suspect standing order 14 has something to do with it.

@MordecaiPinhas if you ask me it's a combination of trust, sympathy and familiarity. This applies whatever 'kind of' love it is. Everything else is pretty much either a consequence of the above or (of) sexual attraction or cuddliness/oxycotin deficiency.I'd be interested in a better definition or arguments against it..as I haven't found any yet.

@mrtino I think the main reason for moxie is the current use of gca and the resulting reduction in user-friendliness of not using it. 🤷‍♂️
