The more and more I see folks complaining about harassment (not direct abusive language, but busybody “well actually” crap), the more I wonder if opt-in sentiment analysis could help filter that out with automated CWs.Though, I realize that’s very much antithetical to what a lot of folks on Fedi want out of the service, as it strays into the realm of automated decision-making. :/I at least hope we’re doing something reasonable job here with moderation to make it less of a concern, but I honestly don’t know. For every report we get, I imagine there’s ~1-5 more that never get sent in for fear of inaction / the poster not technically breaking rules.

We’re aware of an ongoing spam attack from mastodon.social and will be temporarily limiting the instance on furry.engineer and pawb.fun to attempt to mitigate it.Please continue to report any abusive accounts / posts for the mod team to review! Thank you!

@RavenLuni @dean If it helps, when we migrated from Cloudflare R2 to local storage, we scheduled downtime to initially rsync across only the important media. That ended up being media attachments, profile images, emojis, etc. that were all created by us or our users. Entirely ignore the cache directory, as it’s probably by far your largest amount of content. To avoid causing broken images, I’d then rsync the profile images and emojis from the cache folder. It’s not ideal, but should minimize the downtime, especially when you’re transferring a large amount of content (we had about 5TB~)Also, doing clean ups beforehand (if you can accommodate) should reduce the amount of content you need to transfer! Orphaned files seemed to be the worst for us and took up half a TB over time xD

@dean @RavenLuni Yeah, that’d be tootctl media remove-orphans (https://docs.joinmastodon.org/admin/tootctl/#media-remove-orphans).That should get a handful of files that were from deleted posts, and didn’t get cleaned up.

Every time I’m forced to interact with Twatter and Bluesky, I’m reminded how thankful I am for the Pawb.Social moderation team and how quick on the ball they are resolving issues.I’m also reminded that there’s absolutely no point reporting anything on Twatter or Bluesky because nothing seems to ever come of it.

TIL the Nvidia Jetson Orin Nano’s GPIO pins aren’t actually 3.3V. It’s 1.8V~ in a trenchcoat (level shifter), which can’t drive the 3.3V relay we have……Time to learn about MOSFETs!

Okay so like.. anyone else had the (dis)pleasure of working in a building with one of these fucking things? XDFor those that don't know, it's a Hirsch ScramblePad reader! When you scan your access card, the pad lights up and rapidly randomizes all the numbers on the keypad several times before giving you a final layout to use to enter your PIN.They also had an extremely small viewing window that meant anyone not immediately in front of the keypad (or standing to the side) /shouldn't/ be able to see the numbers on the pad, thus shouldn't be able to figure out your PIN.Hoooowever, at least for myself, I couldn't ever successfully enter my PIN on the first go from fumbling reading the numbers properly XD

Also, here’s a good visual demonstration of how they work: https://youtu.be/aKK6tlvxios.You present your access card to the reader, it scrambles the location of the numbers across the pad several times, then stops on a final location for all the numbers. That’s also where I’d fumble by getting an anxiety spike seeing the numbers move rapidly and forgetting / mistyping the PIN xD

While this idea on Newgrounds part is ingenious and a good middle ground... Why this fuck is this needed?Age verification has been a thing on mobile carriers for ages.JUST MAKE ISPs DO THE SAME THING: Enforce Parental Controls unless you verify and disable / configure a bypass code.Stop making website operators act like a guardian for your children because you're negligent, and ISPs are complacent (or less tactfully, also negligent.) :VRE Original Post: https://pawb.fun/@itsOasus/114944979446278229

Like... why the fuck does every website need to use an age verification system when we have centralized access providers that can do it ONCE.Oh.. right. They want to link what porn / adult sites you view with your identity.I really don't buy the "we'll not share your data" crap American companies push these days given they either provably are lying, or are so incompetent that a single queer furry hacker could get access to your data and leak it anyway. If people actually gave a shit about their children, they wouldn't be pearl clutching, they'd be acting to try and stop their children being affected.

If you have a Plex account, you’ll want to check your email and / or read this security incident disclosure:https://forums.plex.tv/t/important-notice-of-security-incident/930523We have recently experienced a security incident that may potentially involve your Plex account information. An unauthorized third party accessed a limited subset of customer data from one of our databases. While we quickly contained the incident, information that was accessed included emails, usernames, securely hashed passwords and authentication data.

This was spurred by a colleague at work saying "I feel like Github never went down for years and now its almost daily"I'm not saying it is shitty vibe coding, but it's probably shitty vibe coding.
