Since we got our solar battery we've had 21 events of the grid going down, lasting a total of 9 hours. The longest outage was 7 hours during a planned event we knew about, and charged our battery to 100% beforehand.

@vik Back ups are great for people who have medical devices and can't afford to not have power. But they're spendy 😬 The great thing about ours is that if Metservice puts us under a red severe weather warning, the battery automatically begins charging to 100% to make sure we have backup power available.

Gah, the newest version of Libre Office requires something called Oracle's Development Kit.Except the instructions are very technical and not helpful for a nontechy person like me...So no access to Libre Office for me until hubby is not working...

Okay, after a whole lot of winging it and guesses and good luck, I got the kit, and installed it and got it working.I fear that any general user trying to do this would just give up, I had to have 5 webpages open to get all the instructions to do it, and I had to guess which kit type to download it.

Holy cow, things aren't going well at the Eurovision special meeting to deal with the Israel situation.The following countries have pulled out of 2026 Eurovision:* Spain* The Netherlands* Slovenia* Ireland * BelgiumAnd also possibly Iceland, they're waiting to have a meeting at home next week to confirm.This is huge news, Spain and the Netherlands are in the top 6 countries financially paying for Eurovision.I wouldn't be suprised if more countries followed. #eurovision

The governing body of Eurovision put their heads in the sand earlier this year when Spain and the Netherlands warned them they would withdraw from next years competition, they didn't believe they would do it.

Eurovision would rather destroy the Eurovision competition rather than ban Israel for it's genocide of Palestinians.I blame the UK and Germany for this.

Another thing to consider is that due to suspicious voting tactics for Israel in the last couple of years, it's certainly possible Israel will win Eurovision in 2026.And that will definitely be the death of Eurovision because 2027 would be the year Israel hosts Eurovision.
