@comrade_lecter How do you define an abuse apologist though?/genqBecause while I may have the feeling of wanting revenge or violence against a person, I hold the view that rehabilitative justice and ethical treatment to prisoners is owed to them. I have had the thought to kill my abusers; I am against the death penalty. So I'm just curious where you said on what makes someone an apologist.

@comrade_lecter @luwa @rubricappula Exactly what Asme said. Simply feeling an attachment to a child does not make them knowledgeable on the risks of relationships. I know this firsthand from emotional incest - even without explicitly sexual or romantic interaction, it is incredibly (unfortunately) easy to expect too much emotional labor from a child. Trying to give them sex education to give them consent, the way you're implying, is not beneficial to the child and gives them the wrong impression on what their responsibility is in their interactions with others since relationships ought to be as equal as possible to reduce the possibility of abuse.

@comrade_lecter @zenamobrien @girk907 Yeah and we also have to consider a couple of things.1) Puberty age looks different for everyone. Me being a hebephile is attracted to the early stages of puberty which could be (most likely) in the ranges of 10-14. However in my experience of being those ages, having peer friends in those ages, and speaking with people those ages and younger now the difference in mental maturity (sorry I lack a better word) is very, very different. A 10 year old might have had their first period and a 14 year old might have had their first period at the same time. But the 14 year old has a much better grasp (generalizing here) on issues like consent, personal responsibilities, and legal systems, among other things -- just a wider range of thinking critically.2) I personally don't understand why legal adulthood doesn't start at 14/15, but they're still most likely adolescents in development. Legal adults are a different label altogether, with one's capacity to consent being more valuable than their development. Some adults never go through puberty from a hormonal variance or have modified/second puberty through HRT, but they are still capable of adult rights and responsibilities. Their bodies do not take away from their adulthood legally.3) Again, puberty looks different to everybody. If you have puberty earlier in life, you may resemble an adult earlier. Therefore it wouldn't really be "neo" for me. I looked more like an adult body in only middle school due to my early puberty, so hebephillia towards me would probably be in the range of 8-10 instead of 10-14. I was fully grown before I reached legal adulthood. Does that mean that someone who is attracted to me is attracted to youth? Imo, only if they asked my age. *Shrug.* I would worry about normalizing the expectations that because a minor goes through physical development (at a much wide variance in ages) that means their brain is developing concurrently. This just isn't the case. The brain goes by years of experiences, hormones that trigger pubescence are much more volatile to genetics and environment.
