I like an “impossible to exit vi” joke as much as the next emacs user but let’s be honest, C-x C-c isn’t any better

running a personal project's perf test on NetBSD, clock_gettime(CLOCK_THREAD_CPUTIME_ID, &ts) appears to be able to go backwards. weird, but also looking into it both Linux and FreeBSD have had the same problem in the past? #c #NetBSD #posix

@screwtape I was tuned in when you were talking about how electric cars are still part of traffic, and thought about how they also use t{i|y}res, whose treads wear out, and that rubber goes… into the environment

During lunch a friend mentioned that you can just supply a HTTP URL to vim on the command line and it would use curl to download that resource and allow you to edit the content. I jokingly asked whether if you enter :w it would then issue a HTTP POST back to the origin which is of course ridiculous. It issues a PUT

@jrose there are only two kinds of pointers: those formed by code written by me, which always point to an object within its lifetime and, if not pointers to const, are unique; and those formed by other code written by various of criminals, which point at objects outside of their lifetime, alias while being mutable, and are otherwise Heretical, and are passed deviously into my components in order to defame my person and defile my works before God

Finishing up rewatching TNG. in the later seasons the majority of the cast has the new-style uniforms and those have invisible zippers up the back of the uniform.Isn’t that a really awkward feature to have on a service uniform? If you’ve ever worn or had a partner that has worn a garment with an invisible zipper you know they suck and get caught constantly, and I do not for one second believe they would improve enough in 300 years to resolve this
