The release of Baldur's Gate 3 is honestly something of a miracle and it's sad that that's the state of the world right now.Larian Studios went completely against the whole gaming industry meta by releasing a finished, incredibly feature-rich game ahead of the designated schedule, without any help from a major publisher, trusting their community as well as their own ability to create a fun and lasting experience to not only release the game without any DRM, but also to not restrict online play to purchased copies only.Insane effort was put into the development and no corners were cut as far as I could see.That takes some significant balls, something companies that cater to their investors rather than their customers no longer have.#gaming #gamedev #games #larianstudios #baldursgate3 #bg3

@volpeon I've run across an instance where a developer intentionally used a decade-old computer and optimised their stuff for it, and it later turned out that their stuff ran perfectly on that generation of hardware, but was painfully and unexplainably slow on anything remotely fresh.Maybe it's not as straightforward as we think.

@volpeon The inherent problem is that you should not trust a business because it wants your money and doesn't care about your wellbeing, as opposed to other human beings almost none of whom want your money while some do actually care about your wellbeing.Word of mouth or extensive research are how I discovered practically everything I own.

@volpeon I've been facing the same issue with my desktop mouse. Finding another light minimalistic wireless mouse with four buttons and a wheel, that doesn't have RGB but does have a month-long battery life, good wireless performance, and wireless charging has been impossible. The switches died almost immediately out of warranty, but I soldered on better ones and am fully intending to ride it out at the very least until there's a breakthrough in mouse technology or something.

@volpeon There's a Sony Xperia 5 that I've been eyeing, it's 68mm wide (vs. S10e's 69.9mm) and just over a centimetre taller on account of having a 21:9 screen with no notch or punchhole.Also, it has a headphone jack.
