@0x0 nevertheless: there is nothing so permanent as a “temporary solution”> It is important to not forget that we want to go decentralised with the system at one point.

@stevesplace @hosford42 This would be the same MLS which will only sell their services to Accredited Realtors, right? The same MLS which is such a powerful tool for those institutions who’d buy up residential properties amid a housing supply crisis, so they can collect more rents off the labor of working people? As a lifelong renter who will never be able to afford a house (in current conditions): yeah, fuck those guys.

@ifixcoinops I’m surprised nobody has mentioned #MikroTik yet. #RouterOS is every bit as competent as the stuff I found in enterprise-grade gear, back when that was my thing.I get by with a single HAP in my 1-bedroom flat, so can’t offer firsthand experience on the mesh capabilities - but the popularity of MikroTik gear among small scale WISPs may offer some reassurance.

@internetarchive @carlmalamud This is a reference I will archive and treasure. There are a few bits here and there which brought an especially big grin to my face

The “industry standard” modules used in digital braille displays are custom piezoelectric devices, costing around $100 per “letter,” making such displays impractically expensive for most applications.I just learned about this hackaday prize winner, who has designed digital, refreshable #braille modules that cost less than $1 each, using teeny-tiny magnets and 3D printed parts.https://youtu.be/BXi1tG78AW4 #OpenSource #accessibility technologies FTW!

@adiz @Binder Therapy. Seriously.Good looks are fine and all that. If you’re just looking for more hookups, maybe that’s all you need. But if you’re hoping to be in a long term successful relationship with another human being? You’re probably going to have to learn some uncomfortable truths about yourself first.

@sj Cryptocurrency became anathema because of all the scams. Many of the scams appeared to be amazingly well-financed, right out of the gate. The US is remarkably effective at preventing private citizens from moving resources across national borders … unless you have the resources of the top-one-percent. Or are a corporation.Certain varieties of cryptocurrency still *could* fix some of these personal-capital-portability issues. But you’ll never hear about them.

@stux It’s not all your neighbors’ fault; these monsters getting elected everywhere couldn’t have dug so deep into the heart of political machinery without extraordinary financial backing from their covert Masters - exactly the same billionaire fascists you expect.

@GottaLaff Oh lovely! Burning sulfur makes sulfur dioxide gas, which likes to mix with water to make sulfuric acid! Also is known as “brimstone,” in case you were wondering what the religionists’ “fire and brimstone” smells like.

@tek “Reporting” on what the users of Xitter are saying is …Well. Just seems like an odd choice. We already *know* what posts are going to get the most traction over there. Of *course* people are shitting on the nicest lady alive, over on that site where you go to shit on innocent people.

@sj This tripped my “correlation is not causation” alarms so I dug into the article to see if I could debunk another Bad Science. It seems like the intro and results are missing some important confounds. No mention of how meat intake correlates with economic status? No mention of the fact that economic status is even more strongly correlated with life expectancy?

@sj Ah, you’re right, I didn’t catch the GDP part on the first read. I don’t necessarily agree that it’s a valid proxy for “what diet can the average person of nationality X actually *afford*?” - but at least economic forces got a mention.
