@resing that’s a great idea! I haven’t seen any projects specifically asking for content designers, but that could be from a low of awareness of what content design is. Content designers could be helpful additions to any projects looking for UI and UX support, as they could help inform the structure and flow of information with users’ needs in mind. @owncast is looking for UI help at the moment and I wonder if they’d be open to content designers as well?

@resing @pixelfed, an open-source Instagram alternative, is also redesigning its website. I wonder if the creator, @dansup would be interested in any help with designing the content for the new website? Here's a WIP shot:https://mastodon.social/@pixelfed/109273733245855992

@Jason there are heaps of industries which have still not made the move to providing services digitally. Government, health tech and legal tech all come to mind, based on my experience working in the UK. They have so much to gain from investing in digital services and improving user experiences. These are relatively new territories for UX design and so design is still very much evolving there.

@jamesalegria I think it depends on the company! When I worked in a big global corporation, I often encountered people who didn’t know what my job was or how I could be helpful. I would sometimes come in on a piece of work too late, when it would have been useful for someone to advocate to the end users early on. Now I work in software company with a big focus on design. I’m pulled into conversations more often than I’m missed out in them! It’s refreshing to be more involved in decisions.

@drrobertotoole I only saw the marketing piece about it, haven’t used it myself. But it did seem strange to introduce a feature to help keep you focused by adding a whole extra column of windows to the side. Glad it wasn’t just me who was a bit skeptical.

@straygoat NHS England is made up of lots of different organisations who autonomously decide how to manage healthcare in their area. This includes deciding which software to use. As a result, how bookings are handled varies depending on which health service you're engaging with. You can find out more about the structure of the NHS in England here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DEARD4I3xtE

@straygoat Hello! Good question.NHS England is made up of lots of different organisations who autonomously decide how to manage healthcare in their area. This includes deciding which software to use. As a result, how bookings are handled and shared varies depending on where you are and which health provider you're engaging with. I passed my 3-month probation as a Senior Product Designer at DrDoctor 🥳 HealthTech has been a complicated and fascinating industry to work in so far. The people I work with are so motivated, kind, and good at their jobs. It’s been a truly humbling experience and I’m really glad to be there.

@severin @davidrevoy Thanks! I’m a big fan of David’s work. I use his Krita brushes in my digital painting projects on the side. It’s so nice to have such a prominent artist clearing a way for other artists to use open source software.

Firefox, Chrome, Signal, Krita, Inkscape... my gosh, I've got so much more *screen* with the new fractional scaling option at 150%! And no fans going off either; it seems efficient and it all looks so crisp! My #Framework laptop feels like a whole new beast!
