@selea this is such a big thing and such strong opposition, that I'm eagerly waiting for all the other shit that will be approved while everybody is focused on chatcontrol. It's not a new tactic.

@briankrebs @feld @pete_wright but here they say> Our HR team conducted four video conference based interviews on separate occasions, confirming the individual matched the photo provided on their application. So the photo was modified to match the real person? And that person was actually doing the coding? Or are they using some high quality deepfake for every video call? Because that means more video calls would still not solve it...

@selea Maybe ChatGPT will actually create more jobs...Seriously though, I was explaining something based on my 15 years of experience, and one guy told me "that's not what ChatGPT is telling me but ok" and I almost lost it.

@matrix Guys, did you check how many people will be cut-off by this? None of my matrix clients is able to show pictures now, and they are not that old, and upgrades are difficult because of weird choices of the developers (distribution channels, other breaking changes, ...)

@xkcd This assumes that investors wouldn't want to destroy the world... clearly an unrealistic assumption.

@sun @lanodan That might actually work. I mean try to search for the new open source project sponsored by the French and German governments. Project name: "Docs". That's the world we live in.

@organicmaps @forgejo Sorry, I have to ask. Do you support the russian invasion into Ukraine? Please make a clear statement, don't leave any room for alternative interpretations.

@clackeSo?My question was not about borders. I'm asking because it looks like they have someone on their team who traveled to Crimea. Only one kind of people travel to Crimea and only one kind of people keeps them in a team.

@schmonz I just "discovered" snac on Friday, set up my instance on Saturday and suddenly I'm seeing posts about how everyone is using it. Damned Baader-Meinhof phenomenon.

#kosmos482 is probably already down, so I'm just looking for some confirmation (like missed radar observations in Europe), but if those estimates were correct, then it may have gone down somewhere over Guatemala, Cuba or US east coast, which means there may have been sightings. Is it weird to watch for real-time updates in the wikipedia page revision history?

#kosmos482 Missed radar sighting over Germany confirmed:Status 10 May 09:56 CESTAs the descent craft was not spotted by radar over Germany at the expected 07:32 UTC / 09:32 CEST pass, it is most likely that the reentry has already occurred.https://blogs.esa.int/rocketscience/2025/05/07/reentry-prediction-soviet-era-venera-venus-lander-cosmos-482-descent-craft/

According to ESA https://blogs.esa.int/rocketscience/2025/05/07/reentry-prediction-soviet-era-venera-venus-lander-cosmos-482-descent-craft/ #kosmos482 was last detected over Germany at 06:04 UTC and then not detected anymore at 07:32 UTC. Replaying the last orbit using https://www.satflare.com/track.asp?q=6073#TOP shows it reasonably accurate at 6:06 over Germany, then going over Ukraine, Afghanistan, India, west corner of Australia, then a lot of Pacific Ocean, towards Guatemala, Cuba, Atlantic Ocean, never making it again to Germany. So top contender - Pacific Ocean.

@fuxoft @tofugolem It's true that plagiarism is not new and existed even before AI. Only now someone claim that this new AI plagiarism is not plagiarism.

@selea Maybe overkill, but would be able to create *very* customizable webhooks: Node-RED
