@null0x0 oh snap that sounds cool- use emails... I’m guessing they encrypt the messages? Very cool

@strypey ooooh awesome! Thanks for sharing. I’ve learned about so many cool projects on the Fediverse!

Banned glindr. Although I think it’s important to not make too much of a bubble / echo chamber for myself, I don’t need all that nonsense in my feed (and taking up space on my server).

@strypey I’m not actually _building_ it as in code so much as running a #discourse server and _building_ a place to have small group discussions. I don’t think discourse has any sort of federation, but thank you for the offer! (If you know of any federating message board software, id love to know about it!)

@fireglow curious about the #irc contact info in your profile; do you run an irc server and use it as a place people can hop in and chat with you? If so, do ppl actually do it? I was thinking about doing the same thing!

@fireglow awesome, yeah I think I will! I’m pretty new to irc but have been using #bitlbee to funnel my chats into one place (mostly #thelounge, an irc web client) and am loving it.

I swear every time I hop on mastodon I learn about 3 really cool open source projects you can self-host, find 8 really interesting articles to read, learn 4 new words, and hate capitalism 5% more

Since #momjeans are a thing now can we do #dadpants? Like pull them way up. Maybe with suspenders.

#tiddlywiki is one of the most interesting, weird, and sometimes mind-blowing pieces of software I’ve ever worked with. Reminds me of starting to learn #vim - at first it seemed really silly and backwards, but after learning more you start to realize how powerful it is

I made a #vegan #leather #fountainpen holder out of a #kombucha scoby. Definitely the most #solarpunk (and weirdest) thing I’ve done this week

Creating a personal #wiki / knowledgebase is probably the most useful things I have ever done for myself... I collect absolutely everything I learn, write myself tutorials, make notes, record ideas.. and I use these every single day. I started with plain #markdown files and have used a variety of platforms. If you have stuff to remember, you gotta make one for yourself. I currently use #tiddlywiki and I love it

@clacke I’ve been using the node.js server, so tiddlywiki runs on a server and it saves automatically- no downloading needed. It’s pretty easy and works just like any other #selfhosted thingy

@selea I think it took about 3 weeks to grow the “leather” (kombucha scoby) and then a day to dry it and another day to buff with coconut oil and make into a wallet
