I often think that Petunia was manufactured without the default cat software so she has a vague notion of how to cat but not really.For instance, she understands there is a lap cat category of cats, but has little idea what that entails or how to sit on a lap.

Ugh we just had a building evacuation at the office and were outside for like 45 minutes. My toque and mitts were both in my pannier in the bike room. BrrrrAlso, everyone and their dog currently has or just had covid and none of y'all are wearing masks during the close-quarters evacuation down the stairwells. Yikes.

People also mostly don't seem to be back yet, though I remember in the Before Times I was always back way before everyone else because I was one of the only people who took the stairs back up rather than waiting forever in the crowd for the elevator. I didn't do it before when there wasn't a frigging super contagious and damaging virus going around and I am sure as hell not going to do it now.

It honestly is truly wild to me that after Twitter imploded under the tutelage of a billionaire megalomaniac so many people - instead of going to decentralized, community-run Mastodon - chose to grasp desperately onto other platforms started by millionaire or billionaire megalomaniacs, alternatively the one by the guy directly involved in the downfall of democracy (Meta) or the one by the guy who started Twitter (which was always a shit show!) to begin with. Like, what???

I used Duck Duck Go for the first time a few years ago and ended up stopping because its results were terrible, but I re-tried it again when news about Google's new trackers broke and it is a million times better - it's very usable now and often provides better search results than Google does. I recommend it.

Duck Duck Go actually took some time to get used to this time around because I was so extremely used to just skipping the top half of any search results because on Google they were always garbage ads and such.

My iPhone SE 2020 has a tendency to slide off of any smooth surface I put it on, to the point where it's a running joke that my phone is trying to smash itself. I broke my screen in mid-November and had a broken screen for a month and a half, long enough to forget about my phone always falling off surfaces because it wasn't - the crack added friction, I guess. I finally got it fixed a couple of weeks ago and it's back to its old ways, throwing itself to its death every chance it gets. Ugh.

@stephanie I'm the same with people who mispronounce my last name. I've given up correcting it and am satisfied when it's a reasonable guess at a pronunciation, but if someone pronounces it *correctly*? I notice immediately, and am shocked.Sadly, I also have my name pronunciation in my email signature and people still don't pronounce it correctly, though an acting director did (and noted that she liked that idea) and it spoke volumes about her conscientiousness.
