@neil the smartphone market has been on a major decline, removing expandability and upgradability in favour of thinner and more fragile aesthetics.and then the software supply chain is done so poorly than handling more than a few years of stable upgrades results in ungodly costs.there is no justification for it, and we should hold OEMs and BSP vendors to account

upgraded to a 16 core Ryzen 9 7950x, 64GB of DDR5 and a nice new 2tb NVMEIt compiles the SDM845 kernel config at least twice as fast as my previous 3700x, although that was before i bumped the memory clocks up to 5400MHz... DDR5 is a mess y'all

micay finally stepped down after Louis Rossman posted a video calling him out for being a crybully and in the video you can watch him sending Louis messages in real time lolthis absolutely mirrors my interactions with him and i totally agree with what Louis had to say. The especially funny thing is that Micay all but threatened to use the grant money he got to assign people to "deal with" me/postmarketOS... all because i called him out on twitter

damn the pinenote is still totally unusable??by that i mean for those of us not in the mood to spend 15 minutes (yes really) finding an article that actually shows you where to put the damn pen magnet to trigger download modei wish this thing was plug and play, it's such nice hardware and the kernel situation doesn't seem toooo awful?

literally can't run any custom software without UART btw 🙃you can monkey patch the uboot binary with some very *handy* scripts but extlinux still prompts you to pick a boot entry lol

phone battery TANKS playing music with Bluetooth headphones ... and I'm reminded of the fact that OnePlus shipped this thing with debug logs that print a line to logcat for *every sample* that passes through the audio codec for Bluetooth ðŸ˜
