       UI designers are idiots. "Hey, know how our thermostat app has a main screen with a slider on it? That's too simple. No one takes us seriously. I was thinking, maybe the user should have to tap Thermostats, then tap the one thermostat they have, then tap Climate, then tap Settings, then tap Change, then tap Set Limits, then move a slider, then tap Save, Close, Close, Close, Close, and Confirm! Now, we have a serious app!"

       @arstechnica Yes, but only true if you're disingenuously literal. It's true the federal government directly provides less than one percent of NPR's budget. However, the feds also make direct payments to local NPR affiliates. Those affiliates then turn around and pay that money to NPR.
