If people never have trivial access to whatever thing causes their brain to trigger the spiral they can still be productive and useful people. It's trite, but that will literally tilt the odds of dooming some future genius to being a useless druggy.

@lunarised @Chiva @taoeffect @CattleBaron @bot To be fair, the *cough* war on drugs is mostly a sham. But on the other hand, just giving up and letting everything fly isn't going to work either. At least in the US, we don't have a strong enough social fabric anymore to enforce acceptable behavior by osmosis. I don't have a solution, but blanket OK'ing it is akin to giving up and letting jesus/the gov sort it out. And in current year, far too many people would be happy to just get high.

@icedquinn Tempted to agree. The prevalence of absurd amounts of "free" financing for students led to universities gouging the pricing, bloat the shit out of their administration staff which then led to needing larger loan amounts- repeat forever. Unrolling that would cause some high drama, and more than a few notable dissolutions. But honestly should be done.

@feld Yer local docs and clinics are not gonna have the capital to store drugs on hand. Nor the people to handle the security and compliance nightmares. The (rapidly consolidating) health care "chains" sure. That seems reasonable.I'd settle for outright banning drug advertising being a decent start.

@Moon The risk/ reward calculus is very lopsided. Too much to lose, won't fight is pretty apt. The amount of power a relatively small amount of people have to inflict damage for wrong think is depressing.Barring a huge social upheaval - I don't see this changing.

@pete_zeratt @furgar nice. I'd probably see if blurays are avail. Well mastered DVDs are good for what they are, but man the scaling on 720 vs 1080 to a 4k TV is not very pleasant.
